Lawson noted that both officers worked as court security and never served as patrolmen.
Now the police chief said he wants the rest of his department to receive social media training.
The threatening post, first reported on by NOLA.com, was removed on Friday. Rispoli deleted his Facebook account over the weekend.
The former officer wrote the comments alongside a fake article he shared about Ocasio-Cortez that was written by satirical website Taters Gonna Tate.
The story falsely quoted Ocasio-Cortez and her thoughts on the budget, including that soldiers get paid to much.
Rispoli had worked for the Greta Police Department since 2005 prior to his termination.
Lawson previously said the officer’s post appeared to violate his department’s social media policy.
