EMTs transported Rodriguez to Elmhurst General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead 

“35-year-old Carmen Iris Santiago was stabbed to death in a Queens beauty salon, Tu S’tilo Salon. Police have taken the suspect, Santiago’s estranged husband, into custody for the stabbing.”
Rodriguez was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Rivas was treated for a cut on his arm after being taken into custody. He was still in the hospital as of Thursday afternoon, according to police sources. Records indicate that the couple separated after about four years of marriage in January. A friend of Rodriguez said William Rivas became jealous when he saw his estranged wife talking to other men. The couple who married in the Dominican Republic before moving to New York to pursue their version of the American dream, before things went awry.

They ended their four-year marriage in January. After the breakup William reportedly turned jealous, violent and, say cops, murderous. Carmen Iris Santiago’s boss at a Queens nail salon urged her to get an order of protection against her husband,  just days before stabbed her to death.
Rivas reportedly, had been calling Rodriguez after they split up in January.
‘She said that he was aggressive, and she was a little scared, but never enough to think this [would happen],’ the victim’s friend Rosa said.
‘She said he wanted her to live with him but she said she didn’t want to be with him. She said she didn’t want him to know where she lived.’
Rodriguez leaves behind two young sons, an eight-year-old and a toddler.
Just 30 minutes before her death, Rodriguez shared a harrowing quote on Facebook.
Translated from Spanish, the quote reads: ‘Life asked death: Why do people love me, but hate you? Death answered: because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth.’
