In a plea deal with prosecutors she will serve a seven-year prison term that places her into a <a href="https://doc.mo.gov/divisions/rehabilitative-services">120-day in-custody sex offender assessment </a>program.<br />
Following that program she&#8217;ll be evaluated by the Missouri Department of Corrections and a judge will decide whether to keep her in prison or release her.<br />
She will also have to serve five years of probation for victim tampering.<br />
Sumner must register as a sex offender and continue a treatment program, according to defense lawyer Mark Hammer.<br />
Her sentencing is scheduled for October 25 before Jefferson County Circuit Judge Darrell Missey. She had originally faced 17 years in prison if convicted in her trial, prior to her plea deal.<br />

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Three months later the boy&#8217;s mother called an Arnold detective to report that Sumner not only broke the injunction but attempted witness tampering, by sending her son a $2,000 check to pay off his car loan if he vowed to drop the case.<br />
The mother passed on a copy of the &#8216;incentive&#8217; check to police.</p>
