Administrators at the high school learned of the allegations against Burk from a student on Wednesday and alerted the school resource officer, who then contacted the sheriff’s department, reported Local12.
The Grant County Sheriff Brian Mains said Burk admitted to having sex with the 15-year-old boy twice at her parents’ home where she lived in Dry Ridge and two more times in her car.

A spokesperson for the Grant County Schools district sent a letter to parents on Thursday confirming Burk’s arrest and saying that she has been ‘removed from duties.’
‘While these events, of course, sadden us, our first priority – and that of the law enforcement with whom we work – is and must always be the protection and safety of our students,’ Morgan continued.

Rape and sodomy in the third degree are both class D felonies punishable in Kentucky by one to five years in prison. If convicted on all counts and sentenced to serve consecutively, Burk faces 8 to 40 years in prison.
Burk was ordered held in the county jail on $50,000 bond. She is due back in court on Monday. Her LinkedIn page indicates that Burk graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and has taught at the high school for just over a year.
