<p class="mol-para-with-font">Three people are dead in east Arkansas after a standoff on Tuesday ended with state police shooting and killing a gunman, authorities said.<br />
The near seven-hour standoff ended when state troopers shot and killed an armed man suspected of killing two women who were found dead in a front yard earlier that day, police said.<br />

State Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Raymond Lewis Williams Jr. and the slain women as 36-year-old Christina Fulmer and 28-year-old Deanna Thomas Banks.<br />
Police say the women were found dead Tuesday in the front yard of Williams&#8217; home in Helena-West Helena, about 100 miles east of Little Rock, <a class="class" href="https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2019/08/28/police-identify-victims-suspect-helena-west-helena-double-homicide/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WMC</a> reported.<br />
The city&#8217;s police chief, James Patrick Smith, said investigators believe Williams shot them before barricading himself indoors.<br />
State Police said troopers tried to communicate with Williams for hours before they used tear gas in the home.</p>

All three bodies will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the manner and cause of death.<br />
The troopers who fired on Williams have been placed on paid administrative leave while special agents prepare a report to present to the county prosecuting attorney, who will determine if the shooting was lawful, as is standard for police shootings.</p>
