Colorado rancher Patrick Frazee, who was accused of killing his missing fiancée, was found guilty of felony first-degree murder in the killing of 29-year-old Kelsey Berreth, who vanished on Thanksgiving Day last year.
Frazee was charged although Berreth’s remains have not been located.
Aside from first-degree murder, Frazee had been charged with three counts of solicitation to commit first-degree murder, one for each time he allegedly asked his then-girlfriend, Krystal Lee, to kill Berreth – with poisoned coffee, a baseball bat or a pipe, according to KOAA-TV.

Frazee will serve life without parole, reported the Colorado Springs Gazette, though formal sentencing has yet to take place. The jury deliberated 3.5 hours, the Gazette reported.
Prosecutors did not give a motive for the slaying during the trial, which took place at the Teller County Courthouse in Cripple Creek, Colo. Berreth, a flight instructor, was last seen shopping with the couple’s daughter.
Frazee had pled not guilty earlier this year to three counts of solicitation to commit murder and two counts of first-degree murder.
Pivotal witness Lee testified earlier this month that she helped him clean up blood at Berreth’s home. She also said she watched Frazee burn a bag she believed contained Berreth’s body.
Lee said that Frazee confessed to killing Berreth with a baseball bat. Lee has pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence.

On Friday the jury heard how Frazee solicited help on multiple occasions to kill Kenney as well as several other witnesses who could testify against him. Inmate Jacob Bentley testified that Frazee asked him multiple times to kill Lee, her relatives, investigator Gregg Slater and others.
Defense lawyers questioned Lee’s credibility and emphasized the lack of a body, motive and weapon.
“What they did not tell you is that Krystal did not go to police voluntarily,” Frazee’s lawyer Ashley Porter said during opening statements.
“They had to track her down. … Before she says anything about this case, she cuts a deal, where she could spend zero days in jail.”
Prosecutors allege the couple’s 1-year-old daughter was in a nearby room when her mother was brutally killed.
