Shravan, in a series of now-deleted posts, said that &#8216;rape is not a serious thing, but murder is inexcusable&#8217; adding that &#8216;the government should legalize rape without violence for the safety of women.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Shravan argued, as momentum gathers to toughen up laws for the safety of women in India, that more stringent rape laws will not deter the incidents of rape in the country.<br />
&#8216;It is foolishness of the government to think that killing Veerappan will control smuggling, killing Osama Bin Laden will control terrorism. In the same way, the laws against rape can&#8217;t control rapes,&#8217; he said.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">Shravan instead suggested that the Government should pass a law &#8216;to control deaths after rape&#8217;, suggesting that &#8216;when the sexual desire is fulfilled men wouldn&#8217;t kill women&#8217;.<br />
</span>The Government of India is currently frightening rapists, he claimed. He said that &#8216;rapists are not finding a way to get their bodily sexual desires and [are] getting these killing thoughts.<br />
He added: &#8216;Better, women should accept men&#8217;s sex&#8217;.</p>

His comments came as a member of India&#8217;s Parliament called for the men who raped and murdered young veterinarian Priyanka Reddy to be &#8216;brought out in public and lynched&#8217;, after the victim&#8217;s mother called for the monsters who committed the horrific crime to be burned alive.<br />
Priyanka was on her way home when she was gang-raped and killed near Hyderabad and her body was dumped and burned 15 miles away.<br />
Four men have since been arrested, including lorry driver Mohammed Pasha.<br />
MP Jaya Bachchan prescribed a strong punishment for the perpetrators of the crime, saying in Parliament on Monday: &#8216;I know it sounds harsh, but these kind of people should be brought out in public and lynched.&#8217;<br />
Other MPs from across India&#8217;s political spectrum condemned the crime during the parliamentary sitting.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">It came as many took to the streets of New Delhi today to demand justice for Priyanka and demand a fast-track investigation in the case, as well as stringent laws for the safety of women in India.<br />
Police recovered Priyanka&#8217;s clothes, shoes and a bottle near a toll road on Thursday morning where she had parked her motorbike, and her family could only identify her by a locket she was wearing.<br />
During the past week, thousands of Indians have protested in several cities following the alleged rape and murder of a 27-year-old veterinarian doctor named Priyanka Reddy near the southern city of Hyderabad.<br />
P<span style="color: var(--color-text);">rotesters and parliamentarians are pressing for courts to fast-track rape cases and demanding tougher penalties.<br />
Still, i</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">n the latest incident of sexual violence and femicide to shock India that came just days after Reddy&#8217;s murder, </span><span style="color: var(--color-text);"> a 23-year-old rape victim was set ablaze by a gang of men, including two of her alleged rapists, as she made her way to court to give evidence against them in northern India </span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">on Thursday morning.<br />

<p>In the latest case, the woman had been on her way to catch a train in Unnao district to attend a hearing when she was doused with kerosene and set on fire, police said.<br />
&#8216;As per victim&#8217;s statement five people were involved in setting her on fire, including the one who was accused in the rape case,&#8217; Vikrant Vir, a police superintendent in Unnao, said.<br />
All five men have been detained, Uttar Pradesh police said in a tweet.<br />
Police documents showed the woman had filed a complaint with Unnao police in March alleging that she had been raped at gunpoint on December 12, 2018.<br />
Having been subsequently jailed, the alleged rapist was released last week after securing bail, police officer SK Bhagat said in Lucknow.</p>

Uttar Pradesh is India&#8217;s most populous state and has become notorious for its poor record regarding crimes against women, with the highest number of rape in the country reported there, more than 4,200 cases in 2017.<br />
The Uttar Pradesh state government, currently controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#8217;s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been criticized by opposition groups who accused BJP in July of protecting a lawmaker accused of rape.<br />
The horrific crimes have triggered protests across India, recalling the civil unrest after woman was raped and murdered on Delhi bus in 2012.<br />
Thousands of protesters faced off with police, demanding the suspected rapists &#8211; who were in police custody &#8211; be handed over to them to face mob justice.<br />
