<p>Aniah Blanchard, the stepdaughter of a UFC fighter, fought back against her alleged kidnapper and tried to grab his gun before he shot her dead, court documents have revealed.<br />
In charging documents filed Wednesday, authorities wrote that suspected shooter Ibraheem Yazeed told an unidentified person that he had shot a woman after she &#8216;went for the gun&#8217;.<br />
Yazeed, 29, is facing two capital murder charges in 19-year-old Blanchard&#8217;s killing. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty if Yazeed is convicted.<br />
Blanchard&#8217;s body was found in a wooded area in Macon County, Alabama, last week, more than a month after she went missing in Auburn.<br />
The teen&#8217;s stepfather, UFC heavyweight Walt Harris, announced on Instagram Wednesday that a celebration of life would be held on December 21.<br />

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Blanchard was reported missing the day after she was last seen on surveillance video at a convenience store in Auburn on October 23.<br />
Her black Honda CR-V was found abandoned outside an apartment complex 50 miles away in Montgomery two days later on Dec 25.<br />
Investigators determined that blood found in the interior of the car was indicative that she had suffered a life-threatening injury.<br />
The prime suspect, 29-year-old career criminal Ibraheem Yazeed, who police said was seen on surveillance video inside the same convenience store as Blanchard on the night of her disappearance, was arrested on kidnapping charges in Escambia County, Florida, on November 7. Yazeed&#8217;s mugshot shows him with a massively swollen left eye.<br />
Investigators believe Yazeed is the sole person responsible for Blanchard&#8217;s death. A witness came forward to report that they saw him shoving Blanchard into a car on the night she disappeared.<br />
Two other men &#8211; Antwain Shamar Fisher and David Johnson Jr &#8211; are also facing charges as accessories after the fact, in the case.<br />
Antwain Fisher, 35, was arrested on kidnapping charges on November 22 after police said he helped Yazeed dispose of evidence and drove him to Florida, while David<br />
The third suspect David Johnson Jr. was arrested the same day investigators recovered skeletal remains near Highway 80 in Shorter, Alabama &#8211; about halfway between where Blanchard went missing and where her car was abandoned.<br />
After his arrest on November 25, Johnson Jr was charged with hindering prosecution in the case.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Police confirmed that the remains belonged to Blanchard on November 27 and said they were making the announcement with &#8216;heavy hearts&#8217; as the month-long search came to a close.<br />
On the day Blanchard&#8217;s remains was found, the third suspect <span style="color: var(--color-text);">Johnson Jr was arrested on November 25 and charged with hindering prosecution in the case.</span><br />
Alabama Gov Kay Ivey weighed in saying, &#8216;I am heartbroken for the family of Aniah Blanchard.&#8217;<br />
&#8216;Like Alabamians across our state, I was praying for a much different outcome. I will be keeping them in my prayers and ask the people of Alabama to continue to do so as well&#8217; Ivey said in a statement.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The 36-year-old posted an image of himself alongside a much younger Aniah on Instagram, praising his &#8216;sweet baby girl&#8217; and revealing his &#8216;unbearable&#8217; pain.<br />
&#8216;You light up my world I&#8217;m so many ways. This pain is unbearable&#8230; I know you want me to be strong but it so hard baby it so hard,&#8217; he wrote.<br />
&#8216;I&#8217;m gonna find away I promise you I will. Right now nothing makes sense and I&#8217;m so lost. I just want you back. I hope I made you proud&#8230;<br />
&#8216;I&#8217;m gonna keep going daddy just needs time. I love you so much. Look after us like you always did.&#8217;<br />
In Wednesday&#8217;s Instagram post Harris said that further details about Blanchard&#8217;s celebration of life would be released in the coming days.</p>
