<div><span style="color: var(--color-text);">The FBI is reportedly hunting for several Saudi students from Navy Station Pensacola, after they vanished in the wake of Friday&#8217;s mass shooting at the base. </span></div>

According to AP, investigators have now detained 10 Saudi military students from the base &#8211; a number revised up from six &#8211; but several others remain unaccounted for.<br />
Authorities have not revealed the number of Saudi students they are still looking for, and it&#8217;s unclear why they have not come forward to police.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">It follows chilling new details emerging in the wake of Friday morning&#8217;s shooting, including news that three Saudi serviceman joined al-Shamrani for a dinner party the night before the attack where they watched videos of mass shootings.<br />
</span>The <a class="class" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/07/us/nas-pensacola-shooting-shooter-victims.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">New York Times </a>reports that the shooter and three other Saudi students traveled from Pensacola to New York last week, where they visited several museums and are thought to watched the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday evening &#8211; just 36 hours before the shootings.<br />
The dead were identified by the U.S. Navy late Saturday as aviation students Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson, 23, of Coffee, Alabama; Airman Mohammed Sameh Haitham, 19, of St. Petersburg, Florida; and Airmen Apprentice Cameron Scott Walters, 21, of Richmond Hill, Georgia.<br />
Capt. Tim Kinsella, commanding officer of Naval Air Station Pensacola, said the three took action during the attack.<br />
&#8220;When confronted, they didn’t run from danger; they ran towards it and saved lives,&#8221; he said in a statement. &#8220;If not for their actions, and the actions of the Naval Security Force that were the first responders on the scene, this incident could have been far worse.&#8221;</div>

<p>The gunman, who was killed by sheriff&#8217;s deputies, was identified by the FBI late Saturday as Mohammed Saeed al Shamrani, 21, a second lieutenant in the Royal Saudi Air Force. He was in a training program at Naval Air Station Pensacola <a class=" vilynx_listened" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/active-shooter-reported-naval-air-station-pensacola-n1096966" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NBC</a> reports.<br />
The gunman, identified as Second Lt. Mohammed Saeed al Shamrani, was killed by a sheriff’s deputy who responded to the attack.<br />
Mohammed Saeed al Shamrani first came to the United States in 2017, when his training with the United States military began, Pentagon officials said.<br />
Upon arrival he attended language school at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he took classes in English and aviation.<br />
During school breaks, he would travel home to Saudi Arabia, the Pentagon officials said. When he returned to the United States in February, friends and colleagues noticed that he had become more religious, said the person briefed on the investigation.<br />
It was not immediately clear what he did between February and this week, when he signed into his new training unit in Pensacola, but he had been living in the area.<span style="color: var(--color-text);"> </span></div>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">According to one source, investigators are looking into the motive for the trip to the city and whether or not they met with anyone there.<br />
Meanwhile, it&#8217;s been revealed that al-Shamrani used a handgun in the shooting, which he purchased from a dealer in Pensacola.<br />
Non-citizens are prohibited from purchasing guns in the United States, unless they are equipped with a hunting license.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">According to </span><a class="class" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/saudi-air-force-member-who-killed-3-u-s-navy-n1097641?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NBC</a><span style="color: var(--color-text);">, al-Shamrani exploited the loophole and his gun was indeed equipped with a hunting license.<br />
</span>Elsewhere, the FBI is examining social media posts and investigating whether al-Shamrani acted alone or was connected to any broader group.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">al- Shamrani had a rather disturbing Twitter account and his pre-shooting &#8216;manifesto&#8217;</span><br />
On Friday evening, the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist media, claimed they had tracked a Twitter account belonging to al- Shamrani which featured a disturbing manifesto written just hours before the shooting.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">The now-deactivated Twitter account purportedly belonging to al- Shamrani included:<br />
</span><span class="mol-style-bold" style="color: var(--color-text);"> A variety of anti-Israel postings and a quote from deceased al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. </span><span class="mol-style-bold" style="color: var(--color-text);">&#8211; A lengthy manifesto posted at 4:39am Friday, less than two hours the shooting. The manifesto read in part:</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);"> </span><span class="mol-style-bold" style="color: var(--color-text);">&#8216;</span><span class="mol-style-italic" style="color: var(--color-text);"><span class="mol-style-bold">I&#8217;m against evil, and America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil.<br />
</span></span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">&#8216;I&#8217;m not against you for just being American, I don&#8217;t hate you because [of] your freedoms, I hate you because every day you [are] supporting, funding and committing crimes not only against Muslims, but also humanity&#8230;.</span><br />
Investigators are working to determine if it was in fact written by the shooter.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">Law enforcement sources say investigators believe the shooter returned to Saudi Arabia after starting his U.S. training in 2017, and when he returned in February, he stopped socializing and going out as much with the three friends.</span></p>

<div> There are <span style="color: var(--color-text);">5,181 foreign students from 153 countries, including 852 Saudis, in the U.S. for Department of Defense security cooperation-related training.<br />
According to a Pentagon policy, foreign nationals who want to participate in the program are vetted for terrorist activity, drug trafficking, corruption and criminal conduct.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">The shooting occurred around 6:50 a.m. in a two-floor classroom building at the naval base, which is on the Florida Panhandle about 13 miles from the Alabama border.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">In addition to the three killed, eight were injured, including two Escambia County sheriff&#8217;s deputies who exchanged gunfire with the shooter. One deputy has been released from the hospital, and the other was recovering from surgery.<br />
</span>Friday&#8217;s shooting is the second incident this week at a U.S. Navy facility. On Wednesday, a U.S. sailor <a class=" vilynx_listened" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/reported-shooting-pearl-harbor-naval-shipyard-security-forces-responding-n1096216" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">shot and killed two civilian DoD employees</a> and wounded a third at the Pearl Harbor Shipyard in Hawaii before killing himself.</div>
