A 33-year-old man has been jailed by a Moscow court for murdering a Russian beauty blogger in a frenzied knife attack after she mocked his sexual performance.
Maxim Gareyev, 33, left the body of 24-year-old Ekaterina ‘Katya’ Semochkina, who is also a doctor, in a suitcase in her flat, naked except for a suspender belt.
Ekaterina K, 24, who was trained as a dermatologist and sexual health practitioner, was killed after her throat was slit at her Moscow apartment, say police.
She had also suffered a number of stab wounds.
Her body was found ‘packed in a suitcase’ in the apartment in Moscow’s Pyryeva Street, by her mother, prompting a full scale murder investigation.
Ekaterina had been a beauty pageant contestant in Moscow as well as qualifying from the prestigious Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.

IT specialist Gareyev was arrested after apparently telling police he was responsible at his home in the Russian capital.
A video then showed him admitting to killing Ekaterina K, real name Ekaterina Semochkina, after meeting her for sex. He said: ‘I stabbed her with a knife at least five times around her neck and chest.’
Asked if he now regretted this he replied: ‘I do and I will help the investigation.
He had apparently been jealous because she had been packing a suitcase to go on a trip to Amsterdam to mark her 25th birthday with a wealthier lover aged 52, according to police sources.
Gareyev, who had recently been sacked, lost it when she called him a ‘poor’ man and then used the knife to kill her, it was alleged.
He then tried to pack her corpse in her suitcase but failed.
Gareyev allegedly cleaned up the apartment and packed bloodstained clothing and the murder weapon into a smaller suitcase belonging to Semochkina.
He took the suitcase out of the flat and disposed of it in a bin, it is alleged.

The killer, who claimed his victim charged $166 an hour for sex to supplement her earnings, gave a graphic account of events. He told detectives he “lost control”.
“I grabbed a knife in the kitchen. She half turned and I struck her in the neck,” he said.
“She tried to escape to the bathroom and lock the door. I pulled her out of the bathroom.
“Her blood was dripping. Then in the corridor she started screaming.
“I covered her mouth. I stabbed her again, to her chest with a knife.
“She ran to the living room and started fighting me, but I was in a state that I didn’t feel pain.
“During the fight she fell down and I struck her twice again in the neck. She had convulsions and died.”
The victim’s parents, who are also doctors, went to her flat and found her body after she failed to answer her phone.
“I saw my daughter lying in a suitcase,” said Olga Semochkina,
“The big red suitcase was in the middle of the room. I started to scream.”
Ekaterina’s father Stanislav Semochkin rushed to her side hoping she was still alive, but soon realized she was dead, she said.

They strongly denied that she had worked as a prostitute and said her “jealous” university classmates had posted her pictures on escort sites.
His mother posted a video of her grave, saying: “Here she is – our girl. Beautiful and clever….Now just to hug and kiss her, we come to this grave.”
Gareyev was quoted as saying: “I want to apologize to Katya’s parents. I regret a lot. I’m very ashamed of myself.”
