A pregnant New York nurse practitioner, who left home to spend the night at her boyfriend’s house in Long Island was never made it home.
Goey “Joey” Charles, 29, of Uniondale, LI, was arrested Monday evening for allegedly strangling his girlfriend of a year and callously dumping her body miles away, on the sidewalk near a Queens expressway, according to police.
The lifeless body of A nurse practitioner Vanessa Pierre, 29, of Hempstead, L.I. was found dumped behind a bush on Friday,
Pierre, six months pregnant with the couple’s child, was found facedown on the side of Horace Harding Expressway near Bell Blvd. in Bayside around 6 a.m.
The pregnant mom was dressed in pajamas with an orange shirt and a sock on one foot, a police source said. She also had a sweatshirt wrapped around her neck.
Police said surveillance video captured a suspect dumping her remains.

Charles, who was driving the victim’s white 2019 Dodge Challenger, was caught on security video dragging the pregnant woman from the vehicle and leaving her to die on the sidewalk about 18 miles from his home, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
A passerby found the victim with a pair of grey sweatpants wrapped around her throat about 90 minutes after cameras caught Charles fleeing in the dead woman’s car.

The victim’s father Herlin Pierre said Monday that his daughter was just three months from delivering his granddaughter.
“It’s horrible what happened,” Pierre’s father Herlin Pierre said on Monday. “I lost two people. I was prepared to have a baby shower for her.”
“I take it very hard,” he added.
“I can’t even sleep. She have a nice family, she go to school, she’s a nurse, look what happened. She met the wrong guy.”
The footage shows that Charles stopped the vehicle on the parkway about 2:50 a.m., climbing out from behind the wheel and getting into the backseat with Pierre.
The victim was still alive but was soon lying motionless inside the vehicle. The suspect finally left her behind about 4:40 a.m., prosecutors allege.
“This is a heartbreaking case,” said DA Katz.
“A pregnant woman was allegedly killed by this defendant, the father of her unborn child.
“Her family is devastated.
“The defendant … will answer for his alleged actions.”

Police released the video footage Tuesday while announcing the arrest as the victim’s family.
Marjorie Charles, the murder suspect’s mother said Monday that Pierre stayed over at the family’s house the night before her remains were found.
“He said, ‘Momma, don’t make any noise, my wife is sleeping,’” recalled Marjorie Charles, 48, shaking her head in disbelief.
“Now Joey’s going to kill his wife? I don’t know what’s going on.”
As police took Charles in for questioning from his home on Monday.
his mother said her son called authorities after hearing something about the case on the news.
He had told his mother that he dropped his pregnant girlfriend off at her mother’s house, although the victim’s white Dodge Charger was still parked Monday in the family driveway when he was taken away for questioning by police.

The suspect’s aunt insisted she saw no signs of impending trouble between the couple, who began dating about a year ago.
“No, never,” said Nerlyne Charles.
“That’s why I’m shocked about that. It’s my nephew. I want to know what’s really going on. We can’t sit like something’s not happening … Is she really dead, for real?
Why would someone do that?”
However, neighbors who revealed that police kept tabs on the address all weekend said: “He’s in and out — we don’t see him.” neighbor said about the suspect, adding “He’s just a weirdo. They just keep to themselves.”
The Medical Examiner’s report ruled the case a homicide. Cause of death cited was asphyxia due to compression of the neck.
His arraignment was pending Tuesday in Queens Criminal Court.
Charles faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison, if convicted of second-degree murder.
