A woman who gave birth to her child before dying from gunshot wounds was killed by a man who waited nearly two hours so he could shoot her, in in Paterson, New Jersey, authorities said.
Donqua Thomas surrendered to police Saturday, prosecutors said. He faces multiple charges, including first degree murder.
30-year-old Thomas from Paterson, surrendered to police Saturday in connection with the killing of an eight-months pregnant woman whom he allegedly shot multiple times.
The victim delivered a healthy baby at a local hospital, then died.
Authorities say he sat in his car on Thursday and waited on Christina Place in Paterson for 90 minutes before the victim, identified by authorities only as “R.L.”, arrived around 1:30 p.m.

She parked her vehicle next to Thomas’ car, prosecutors said. When she got out, he approached and shot her several times. He then jumped back into his vehicle and sped off.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. As doctors struggled to treat her injuries, she delivered her baby, authorities said.
“However she succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced deceased shortly after,” Passaic County authorities said in a statement.
The baby was born “healthy” remains in stable condition, officials said.
Authorities have not specified the relationship between Thomas and the victim.
He faces a sentence of 30 years to life in prison for the murder.
