An Ontario, California couple wouldn’t let anything stop them from getting married last month, not even the bride testing positive for COVID-19 just before her big day.
After rescheduling several times because of the pandemic, Lauren Jimenez, 29, and Patrick Delgado, 27, were finally set to say ‘I do’ on November 20 — but just days before, Lauren came down with the virus herself.
But instead of calling off their big day, the determined couple simply adjusted their plans yet again, tying the knot Romeo-and-Juliet-style through an open window with Patrick down on the sidewalk and Lauren looking down from her second story bedroom.

In true Shakespearean fashion, a couple tie the knot on separate floors of 2-story California home last month.
An Ontario, California couple wouldn’t let anything stop them from getting married last month, not even the bride getting COVID-19.
Lauren Jimenez and Patrick Delgado wed on November 20. However, because Lauren was contagious, she attended her own wedding perched up in her second-story bedroom, while her groom stayed some distance below on the sidewalk. The pair stayed connected, each clutching the end of a long, thin, white ribbon.

After their initial wedding plans were derailed because of the pandemic, Jimenez, 29, and Delgado, 27, were finally set to say ‘I do’ on November 20.
Due to the pandemic, Lauren and Patrick had been through a lot before finally landing on their wedding day.
‘We actually changed changed [our plans] three times. We first cut friends, then extended family,’ Patrick told Fox 40. The final guest list included 10 people, Patrick said.
They landed on a guest list of just 40 people and behaved cautiously leading up to their wedding date.
‘We were cautious throughout the entire time, making sure that we always wore our masks everywhere,’ Patrick said. ‘When she got that positive test result, I’ll be honest, it took a massive toll on her.’
After four years together, a year-and-a-half of those engaged, and their marriage license about to expire, Lauren and Patrick couldn’t bear to push their date back.

Bride and groom stayed connected through the ceremony with a 30-foot ribbon decorated with flowers. The ribbon which was made by Lauren’s aunt Lauren’s aunt symbolizes ‘unity, love, and physical touch.’

So they merely tweaked their plans: Instead of saying ‘I do’ face-to-face, Lauren isolated herself in her second-story bedroom, hanging out the window while her groom stood below.
They made sure that their officiant and photographer were comfortable with the plan, and Lauren’s aunt made them a 30-foot ribbon with flowers to hold onto, which would symbolize ‘unity, love, and physical touch.’
‘Although it’s definitely not how we envisioned our wedding day, Patrick and I were able to exchange our vows to each other,’ Lauren told Good Morning America.
‘I feel so lucky to have a partner who will support, love and navigate through tough times,’ Lauren added.
‘If we can get through 2020, Patrick and I can get through anything.
After the ceremony, the couple had to wait to share their first kiss as husband and wife.
‘We will definitely be sharing this story with our children and grandchildren someday.’
Their photographer, ;Jessica Castellano, captured some very memorable photos of the nuptials, and described them as the ‘most 2020 wedding’ she did this year. ;

Meanwhile, the couple hopes to be able to have a big party next year, and for now they’re eagerly awaiting their first kiss and husband and wife.
‘Being a quarantined bride has not been ideal, but I’m trying to make the best of our situation I can’t wait till I can be with Patrick and finally give him a kiss,’ Lauren said.
