<p>The New York Police Department said Tuesday that they have identified &#8216;SoHo Karen&#8217; and may charge her with assault, grand larceny or attempted robbery.<br>On Saturday, jazz musician Keyon Harrold and his 14-year-old son, Keyon Harrold Jr., were staying at the Arlo hotel in Soho when they were confronted by an unidentified white woman in the lobby. <br>Harrold started recording video of the incident that showed the woman screaming at his teenage son. She accused the teen of stealing her cell phone. ;<br>She wa haranguing he duo of father and son while standing beside a man who identified himself as a hotel manager. <br>She asked the manager to take the phone from the teenager. “Take the case off that’s mine. Literally get it back,” she tells the manager. <br>Harrold responded as they moved through the lobby, “You think there’s only one iPhone made in the world?” <br>The woman followed, then allegedly tackled Harrold’s son.<br>As she pushed and grabbed the two, she scratched Keyon Sr’s hands in her fight for the phone, which she wrongly thought was hers. <br>Her phone was reportedly found in an Uber and returned to her by the driver a few minutes after the squabble.</p>

<p>On Tuesday NYPD announced that &#8216;Karen&#8217; has been positively identified and detectives are trying to locate her and the case is not being investigated as a bias incident.<br>Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said during a press briefing Tuesday: &#8216;We believe that she lives out of state so we’re trying to ascertain if she’s still within the New York City area.&#8217; ;<br>Harrison said the case was initially classified as harassment but it has since changed. ; ;<br>&#8216;After we were able to get video, we’re now looking to charge this individual with assault and maybe even look at grand larceny or maybe even attempted robbery,&#8217; he said. ;</p>

<p>Harrison said that Keyon Jr didn&#8217;t suffer any injuries in the incident, but his father was scratched. ;<br>&#8216;Our perpetrator initially started a verbal argument of this accusation and then tried to attack our teenager by grabbing for his phone, grabbing his leg and trying to tackle him. <br>Our victim didn’t suffer any injuries. But his father, who he was with, received slight injuries,&#8217; he said during a press briefing. ;<br>On Monday the Manhattan District Attorney and NYPD announced they were investigating the incident. ;</p>

<p>Harrold’s video went viral over the weekend, racking up over 1.8 million views on Instagram alone.<br>Harrold ;<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/27/nyregion/keyon-harrold-racial-profiling.html">believes</a> he and his son, who are both Black, were racially profiled by the woman. Harrold said on Instagram that the hotel told him the woman’s missing phone was dropped off by an Uber driver soon after the confrontation.<br>“No apology from her after this traumatic situation to my son, not me. No apologies from the establishment. This shit happens so often. It needs to stop!!!” Harrold wrote on Instagram on Sunday. <br>The who hotel later apologized, said that they The hotel told they had called <em> ;</em> called police during the incident.<br>During his Tuesday press conference, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison announced that police obtained security camera footage from the hotel that will likely lead to serious charges. “We’re now looking to charge this individual with assault and maybe even look at grand larceny or maybe even attempted robbery,” Harrison said. </p>
