<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Santa Barbara man has admitted to the FBI that he stabbed his two young children to death with a spear fishing gun in Mexico on Monday. <br>Matthew Taylor Coleman who co-founded a surfing school with his wife left US Saturday with their two kids and checked into the City Express Hotel in Rosarito, Mexico. Two days later he was arrested after trying to cross back into the US at the San Ysidro Point of Entry for the murder of his two children<br>Coleman, 40, said he &#8216;believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them,&#8217; adding he was &#8216;enlightened by QAnon and Illuminata conspiracy theories&#8217;. <br>According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, Coleman told agents that he was &#8216;receiving visions and signs that his wife possessed serpent DNA and had passed it onto his children&#8217;. <br>Coleman was apprehended trying to reenter the USA at the Ysidro Point of Entry after his wife alerted authorities to his whereabouts using the Find My iPhone app. <br>Leaving home Saturday morning with his two young children Coleman drive two hundred miles from Santa Barbara to Rosarito in Mexico where he killed them early Monday morning. <br>Kaleo who was found with injuries to the face, chest and arm had 17 injuries inflicted with a sharp object. 10-month-old Roxy had injuries to the face, chest and arm, a total of 12 injuries inflicted with a sharp object.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A day before the murder Coleman left his Santa Barbara home with his two children in a Mercedes Sprinter van. He did not take a car seat and instead left with his 10-month-old daughter in a box. <br>The surf instructor told federal agents he used a spear fishing gun to stab his son Kaleo, two, and daughter Roxy, 10 months, in the heart and dump them in a field outside Rosarito in 60 miles south of San Diego.<br>He did not fire the gun. According to the documents, when they did not die right away, Coleman stabbed his son 17 and daughter 12 more times, cutting his own hand in the process. <br>He told his wife, Abby that they were going on a camping trip but did not say where. Subsequently, he didn&#8217;t answer any of his Abby&#8217;s calls or texts on Saturday. Family members reported that they couldn&#8217;t reach Coleman either. <br>Abby Coleman reported her husband and children missing that same day. She said she was concerned for her family&#8217;s well-being and because she knew her husband didn&#8217;t have a car seat, according to the documents. <br>Coleman had checked himself and his two children into the City Express Hotel in Rosarito, where they stayed until early Monday morning, when he checked them out and took them to a field just outside town and killed them. <br>CCTV showed him returning to the hotel later Monday morning on his own. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">CCTV footage from the hotel shows Coleman leaving the hotel on Monday morning at 2.54am with his two children, Kaleo and Roxy. He returned later Monday morning, alone, then left the hotel for good in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, authorities said. <br>Investigators in Mexico believe that Coleman took his children to a ranch near to his hotel where he committed the heinous deeds. Matthew Coleman however, had already placed his children&#8217;s slain bodies in some nearby brush, discarded their bloody clothes in a blue trash bin and threw the spear fishing gun near a creek, the affidavit said.<br>Speaking to police on Sunday, Abby had said she did not believe Coleman would harm their children and that they would eventually return home. She also told the agents that she and her husband did not have any sort of argument before he left. <br>It is not known why the surf instructor could have murdered his children.<br>The court documents noted that Coleman thought he &#8216;was saving the world from monsters&#8217;. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Coleman was taken to Santa Ana jail on Tuesday and the Mexican authorities found the murder weapon, bloody clothes and a baby&#8217;s blanket. <br>According to the court documents, when a jailer asked him why there was a band-aid on his hand he said it was from &#8216;hurting his children&#8217;. The surf instructor told federal agents that he knew it was wrong &#8216;but it was the only course of action that would save the world&#8217;. <br>On Sunday, Officer Michael Chung with the Santa Barbara Police Department (SBPD) helped Abby use &#8216;Find My iPhone&#8217; to locate her husband. <br>His last-recorded location was at the open-air mall Pabellon Rosarito in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, according to court documents </p>

The Baja California police received a 911 call about the discovery at 7.27am <br>The worker, who wished to remain anonymous, told Border Report that he &#8216;teared up&#8217; when he saw the bodies. &#8216;I was scared and sad because these are tiny children who don&#8217;t know any better&#8217; he said.<br>On Monday, Abby notified police that her husband&#8217;s location had moved to the San Ysidro Point of Entry at the US-Mexico border.<br>An alert had already been sent to US Custom and Border Protection agents to look out for Coleman and the two children. When he tried to cross the border he was immediately detained.<br>During an inspection of the van officers found blood on the registration paperwork, according to the affidavit. Coleman also had his passport, his wife&#8217;s old passport that stated her maiden name, Kaleo&#8217;s birth certificate and a &#8216;Verification of Pregnancy and Live Birth&#8217; for Roxy. <br>Two days prior Coleman checked into a City Express Hotel in Rosarito, Mexico, a coastal town about 60 miles south of San Diego. CCTV footage shows him leaving with the children early Monday morning and returning later without them. <br>Prior to the deaths, Coleman posted frequently about his wife, children and Christian faith online and pictures on Coleman&#8217;s social media show images of a loving family. He was posting videos online of his surf tutorials up until three weeks ago. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a November 2020 Facebook post he wondered whether &#8216;there is a type of Great American Renaissance following the years of Covid, censorship, and political divisiveness&#8230; that will empower each person&#8217;s heart to come alive and explode with innovative ideas, new business models, new music sounds and never seen ways to build an amazing community?&#8217; And in October Coleman celebrated the birth of his youngest child, Roxy Rain, with his wife Abby Coleman in a gushing Instagram post. <br>The caption read: &#8216;While waiting for her to come, I kept feeling this sense that she was going to be born at a very pivotal time in history and that she would represent a dawn, or even awakening, to years of great blessing for our family and nation. <br>&#8216;Another picture that came to me was of God reaching down into a river bed and picking up a small stone (rock), examining it intently. Just as David had done before slaying Goliath, God examined the stone and was confident that it was just the perfect one for the battle. <br>Although it was small, smooth and somewhat harmless looking, he knew that it would become great when placed into the palm of a skilled hand. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;My declaration over Roxy Rain is that she has been hand picked by God to slay the giants in the land.&#8217; <br>Baja California Attorney General Hiram Sanchez Zamora said that a farmhand discovered the bodies when he saw splattered blood on the ground while walking the property near El Descanso ranch. <br>The farmworker who found the dead children said one of them was in diapers, according to <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.borderreport.com/regions/california/founder-of-surfing-school-accused-of-stabbing-killing-his-two-young-children-in-mexico/">Border Report</a>. <br>The worker, who wished to remain anonymous, told Border Report: &#8216;To be honest I teared up. And I immediately notified my manager to call the police to come investigate. <br>&#8216;I was scared and sad because these are tiny children who don&#8217;t know any better. Hopefully they find whoever is responsible because this is a terrible thing.&#8217; <br>The FBI, US Customs and Border Protection, the Santa Barbara Police Department are working with the Mexican authorities to return the children&#8217;s bodies to California. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Coleman co-founded the surfing school Lovewater Surf Co in his hometown, Santa Barbara, California with his wife. <br>According to the surf school&#8217;s website, &#8216;Matt and Abby enjoy finding ways to better lives through surfing, experiential education and community-based projects&#8217;. <br>The site is still live with pictures of Coleman and his smiling family. <br>The murder is all the more baffling considering Coleman&#8217;s very public love for Abby, Kaleo and Roxy. </p>
