<p>An ex-juvenile court judge from Wisconsin faces 10 years in jail after he admitted uploading child porn depicting young boys being abused to a social media app. <br>Brett Blomme, 39, of Cottage Grove, was a former children&#8217;s court judge who had uploaded child pornography on the Kik app 27 times between October and November in 2020. <br>Blomme is likely to be sentenced to five years for each of the two counts of child pornography distribution he admitted at a federal court hearing on Tuesday.<br>But those sentences could end up being served consecutively, because they&#8217;re for the same crime, meaning Blomme could be freed in 2026. <br>The ex-jurist will still face seven counts for child porn possession with the Dane County Circuit Court and his next sentencing is scheduled for December 22. But the federal court hearing also resolves any state charges relating to the same case, so he will not face further punishment at that hearing. </p>

<p>&#8216;He wants people to forgive him, which isn´t easy,&#8217; Blomme&#8217;s attorney Chris Van Wagner said last month after negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors. <br>&#8216;He just asks that people remember that nobody is as bad as their worst decision or as good as their greatest victory.&#8217; <br>Blomme was charged in March after an investigation was launched by the Department of Justice a month before. <p>The Department of Justice said they found Blomme&#8217;s possession of child porn after they had received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in January. <br>Blomme had been using the screen name &#8216;DomMasterBB&#8217; which was said to be attached to his email account and included the disturbing content. It was shared to an instant messaging service called Kik. </p>

<p>Following a search warrant, it was revealed that he had been sharing content at his home in Cottage Grove and at his office in the Milwaukee County government building. <br>He lived at his Cottage Grove home with his husband Christopher Verhaeghe and children who were said not to be involved in the content that Blomme was sharing. <br>Assistant U.S. Attorney Chad Elgersma said that the identity of the children involved in the content were discovered through hash values of files. <br>An additional search was launched in the Children&#8217;s Court where Blomme had worked which State Courts Director Randy Koschnick said &#8216;left an indelible stain on that institution and the people who work there.&#8217; <br>Blomme, who earned almost $150,000-a-year as a judge, was suspended from his position in court and officially resigned on September 1. <br>He has been in custody since May after he was indicted by a federal grand jury.</p>

<p>Koschnick says the state court system should be considered a victim in the case after Blomme refused to resign from his position for a lengthy period of time. <br>&#8216;By refusing to resign from his judicial position, Mr. Blomme has placed his self-interest ahead of the interests of the children, families and community that he was originally elected to serve,&#8217; Koschnick said. <br>&#8216;In addition, media reports about a children&#8217;s court judge uploading child pornography from within the courthouse have tarnished the reputation of the judiciary and the sanctity of the court system.&#8217; <br>A pretrial conference for Blomme will take place on Thursday.</p>
