NYPD officer Yvonne Wu, 31, wearing her officer’s jacket, opened fire at her ex-girlfriend, Jenny Li, and Li’s new girlfriend, Jamie Liang, at Li’s home in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, on Wednesday night.
Friends say the former couple broke up a month ago after two years.
Li became tired of Wu’s ‘jealous’ and ‘psychopathic’ behavior, one friend said.
‘She was possessive. Jenny Li just couldn’t take it anymore. This cop is a psychopath.
‘She was stalking her ex for a month,’ one friend told The New York Daily News, adding that Wu previously went to the home and threatened to kill Li.
Jamie Liang, 24, died after being shot in the chest and Li was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries but she survived.
Liang was found lying on the living room floor and Li was in the bedroom, also on the floor.
Wu has been a police officer for five years. Inside sources at NYPD say Wu was regarded as a a high performer – In her recent evaluations she was rated as ‘exceeding expectations’.
Her record as an active duty cop includes making about 60 arrests.
Wu lives on Staten Island and works at the 72 precinct. Her ex-girlfriend Li’s home, where the shooting happened, is five miles from her precinct.
Friends of the victims familiar with the incident said Wu was sitting on Li’s bed, waiting for the pair to come home. Neighbors who heard gunshots described multiple ‘popping’ sounds.
As the gunfire was going off, NYPD sources said, Wu could be heard screaming: ‘I told you not to mess with me!’ in the background.
A 911 call made from the home after the gunfire, cops believe, was made by home owner, Li. The operator could hear someone in the background yelling: ‘That’s what you get!’, sources said
NYPD officer Wu and Li had been together for two years before they broke up last month.
Assistant Chief Michael Kemper, of the Brooklyn South patrol district, refused to name the officer but said that she handed herself in when police arrived at the house and was ‘calm and collected and very forthcoming’.
‘Simply put, she confessed. That’s all I’m going to say,’ Chief Kemper added.
Witnesses at her arrest said ‘She didn’t say anything. She was so quiet. No emotions, nothing. She was handcuffed and they put her in the car, that was it. She didn’t fight back or nothing. Didn’t say a word’.

The incident happened at about 5pm on Wednesday, Chief Kemper said, after Li and Liang arrived home.
‘We believe the cop was inside the residence before the other two females came home,’ Chief Kemper said.
One of the Liang’s friends told The Daily News that Li and Wu lived together in Bay Ridge until about a month ago, when they broke up. They had been together for about two years.
Shortly after the break-up, Wu reportedly showed up at Li’s home, and motioned to the gun in her waistband when Li and the other woman came out, according to on friend.
Li didn’t report what happened to police, the friend said, because “they still care for Yvonne because they are friends.”
A witness who saw first responders giving CPR to one of the victims described the shooter as being very calm after the rampage. Sh was there, ‘in her NYPD jacket, which was curious. It was so strange. She was so peaceful and calm,’ CBS reports.
Wu who was already outside the home when police arrived, allegedly, confessed immediately.
She had worked on Tuesday night and was due to head back to the office on Wednesday evening, the New York Daily News reported.

The shooter and one of the home owner had been together for around two years and broke up about a month prior., according to a friend of Liang’s.

He said it was unclear whether she used her service weapon, but there was ‘a very good chance it is.’
‘The motive is believed to be domestic in nature,’ said Kemper. Kemper said that the officer had no known disciplinary problems.
