<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Award winning artiste Cardi B emerged victorious in her federal libel lawsuit against blogger Tasha K on Monday.<br>The multi-Grammy winning rapper was awarded $1 million in general damages by a jury in Georgia, along with an additional $250,000 that the 39-year-old Youtuber will be required to pay for medical expenses, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/01/24/cardi-b-wins-libel-case-lawsuit-trial-blogger-tasha-k/">TMZ</a> reported on Monday. <br>On Tuesday Jurors handed Cardi B another resounding win in her defamation victory over Latasha Kebe, deciding the celebrity blogger and her company should pay the rapper $1.5 million in punitive damages. <br>The jurors also awarded Cardi every penny of the expenses and attorneys fees she requested. <br>Combined with the $1.25 million in actual damages awarded with Monday’s verdict in the case, the total com<br>We disagree with the verdict, and we will be filing an appeal,” Kebe’s lawyer Sadeer Sabbak said in a statement Tuesday.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Back in 2019, hugely talented musician Cardi B , born Belcalis Almánzar, 29, sued blogger Latasha Kebe, aka Tasha K, for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress after claiming in videos posted in 2018 and 2019 to her YouTube channel that Cardi had once worked as a prostitute and had suffered from drug abuse and sexually transmitted diseases, in a systemic smear campaign which the victim described as a &#8216;campaign of slander.&#8217;<br>The trial took a just over a week before a jury found Tasha K liable on three counts.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among the claims made were that the A-lister rapper regularly used cocaine while working as a prostitute. Tasha also claimed that Cardi was unfaithful to her husband Offset, and had contracted herpes. Worse the youtuber in some of the dozens of videos featuring wild allegations, alleged that the rapper “f–ked herself with beer bottles” onstage when she was working as a stripper. <br>In court all of the defendant&#8217;s allegations were proven to be false.<br>&#8216;None of the aforementioned statements about plaintiff are true,&#8217; Cardi&#8217;s legal team replied in her lawsuit filing. &#8216;Plaintiff was never a prostitute or a user of cocaine. Plaintiff has never, and does not now, have herpes, nor has she had herpes outbreaks on her mouth.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The damage on Tasha K&#8217;s pocket book got deeper after the judge presiding said a hearing the next day [Tuesday would determine what she might have to pay in punitive damages to the WAP rapper, as well as how much she would pay in attorneys fees. Ultimately the cumulative restitution amounted to well over $4million.<br>Rolling Stone <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/cardi-b-1-25-million-defamation-lawsuit-victory-tasha-k-1290026/">reports</a> that Cardi was in the room on Monday to witness that verdict and appeared &#8216;elated&#8217; after winning her case. <br>She was seen hugging her attorneys Lisa Fortune Moore and Sarah Matz, before pulling them into a &#8216;three-way hug.&#8217; <br>Afterward she posted a throwback photo to her Instagram Stories that appeared to show her with her late maternal grandmother.<br>&#8216;My queen thank you for hearing my prayers,&#8217; she began her caption. &#8216;Only you know those nights that I cried to you feeling hopeless and tired even when it seems like I have the world on my hands.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Earlier this month, Cardi claimed &#8216;I wanted to commit suicide over the things&#8217; in her emotional testimony in court. <br>&#8216;I felt defeated and depressed and I didn&#8217;t want to sleep with my husband,&#8217; she said of a period shortly after she and the rapper husband Offset welcomed their daughter Kulture.<br>During direct examination by her legal team, she also admitted that she felt as if she &#8216;didn&#8217;t deserve my kid.&#8217;<br>The rapper also blasted Latasha K from the witness stand, saying &#8216;I felt like only a demon could do that s**t,&#8217; according to <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/01/13/cardi-b-testifies-suicidal-libel-trial-tasha-k-blogger/">TMZ</a>.<br>The blogger followed Cardi&#8217;s 2019 suit with a countersuit alleging that the Bodak Yellow rapper had threatened that gang members would assault her, but a judge later threw out the countersuit. <br>She also called out Cardi for allegedly calling her a &#8216;h*e&#8217; and &#8216;dumb a** b****&#8217; on Instagram. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After Tuesday&#8217;s resounding victory, a triumphant Cardi, in a statement said: “After almost four years of repeated libel and slander against me, being able to walk away from this victorious brings me great happiness.<br>“During this trial, all of you have learned about the darkest time in my life. That moment in time was fueled by the vile, disgusting, and completely false narratives that were repeatedly and relentlessly being shared online. I thought I would never be heard or vindicated and I felt completely helpless and vulnerable,” she wrote.<br>Highlighting the helplessness felt by many victims of cyberbullying Cardi added, “I have never taken for granted the platform that my fame allows me to have, which is why for over three years I dedicated every resource I had to seek justice. And not just justice for me. T<br>&#8220;he truth is that the intentional harm that was done to me, is done to countless others every day. The only difference between me and the high schooler who is being cyberbullied and lied on by their classmates is the money and resources I have access to. We collectively have to say enough is enough,” she said.</p>
