<p>Syrian Human Rights activists in the Aleppo province have reported that Internal Security Forces have arrested suspects and several family members of a girl that was found dead in a dumpster on January 27, where investigations are still underway. <br>In a country where honor killings and femicides is rife, the little girl&#8217;s parents allegedly killed their daughter in &#8216;cold blood&#8217; after she was kidnapped and raped by an unidentified man in the Al-Shahba area of Syria ;on November 18. <br>The barbaric act reportedly was perpetrated against the five-year-old girl after she was raped by a stranger, strangely the response of the victim&#8217;s family was her murdered by relatives in a so-called &#8216;honor killing.&#8217; &#8211; Security sources said the girl was brutally tortured before she was killed, with the murderer being still at large. <br>The child&#8217;s body was found in a garbage container in Manbij, north Syria, on January 27 before being transferred to Al Furat Hospital which lies in eastern Aleppo. <br>The girl’s parents have denied killing their daughter, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) have <a href="https://www.syriahr.com/en/236930/">reported</a> that Internal Security Forces have taken several family members of the girl into custody. ; ;</p>

<p>The girl&#8217;s parents have maintained their innocence in their daughter&#8217;s death and investigations are ongoing, the ;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.syriahr.com/en/236930/" target="_blank">SOHR ;</a>added.<br>According to local sources, the girl left her house to join other children heading to olive orchards, in order to see her father who works in one of the olive orchards, when an unidentified man on a motorbike intercepted her way and kidnapped and raped her.<br>After a search, the girl was found near a road between the Deir Jamil and Kafr Naha villages, according to the SOHR. ; ;<br>It has not yet been confirmed when the girl was killed. <br>The SOHR has now called for the authorities to ensure the child&#8217;s killers stand trial amid a spate of so-called &#8216;honor killings&#8217; in the country. <br>In July last year a girl was dragged to an abandoned house and shot by her tribe in a so-called &#8216;honor killing&#8217; after she tried to run away with her lover and refused to marry her cousin in Syria. <br>A video circulated online showed the young woman, who was identified as 18-year-old Eida Al-Hamoudi Al-Saeedo, being shot in a desolate village on the outskirts of the northeastern Syrian city of Al-Hasakah. The young woman had tried to run away with her lover but her family and tribe followed her before capturing her, Akhbaralaan.net reported. ;<br>Eida, who was from the city of Al-Hasakah, had been taken to the abandoned house by her father and brother, along with other men from the Al-Sharabain tribe according to the news site ;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.alarabiya.net/social-media/2021/07/04/%D8%BA%D8%B6%D8%A8-%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%85-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D8%B3%D9%83%D8%A9-%D8%AC%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%85%D8%A9-%D9%85%D9%88%D8%AB%D9%82%D8%A9-%D9%88%D9%87%D8%A7%D8%B4%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%BA-%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AD%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%85%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A9" target="_blank">Alarabiya</a>.<br>She had been starved and beaten for many days before being executed by her family, according to the Violations Documentation Center in northern Syria, which identified Eida as the victim of the attack.</p>

<p>&#8216;[She was] brutally assaulted until the crime was completed by killing her with machine guns and pistols by more than one person,&#8217; a spokesperson for the organization said. <br>&#8216;[The family] bragged about publishing a horrific video clip showing the murder of a girl by bullets, near an abandoned house in the countryside.&#8217; ; <br>The man who Eida had fallen in love with reportedly managed to escape from the tribe as the family &#8216;feared a reprisal&#8217; from his family if they attacked him. <br>&#8216;Her sin was to love another man whom they couldn&#8217;t touch fearing of reprisal between the two families,&#8217; the ;Violations Documentation Center ;said in a statement on Twitter. </p>

<p>Just days after the video of Eida&#8217;s murder emerged on social media, a 16-year-old girl was murdered by her father in another so-called &#8216;honor killing&#8217; after she was raped by a relative. The girl was identified as Aya Muhammad Khalifo by the Violations Documentation Center in northern Syria. The SOHR reports that the father man strangled his daughter. Her brothers also killed her baby. <br>The rapist cousin was sentenced to 30 years in prison by a regime court and then the father prisoned his daughter in a room in his house for a year, in al-Klasha neighborhood that is under the control of the Autonomous Administration area in al-Hasakah city. </p>

<p>Aya was killed by her father after the court verdict was confirmed. He then fled to the regime-held areas in the security square in al-Hasakah city. <br>These murders by relatives is generally defined as the killing of a family member, usually a woman, in response to a perceived disgraceful act, honor killings were traditionally seen as cleansing a family of the shame of the victim’s actions.<br>While honor killings are illegal in Syria, loopholes still exist and in practice these crimes are often not pursued by authorities, preserving the impunity of perpetrators and putting women at risk, nonetheless, the crime is increasingly seeing public backlash, as communities demand an end to the practice and accountability for perpetrators. ;. <br>Following the murders of the two girls by their relatives in so-called &#8220;honor killings&#8221;, last July hundreds of women in Hasakeh, a city in northeast Syria took to the streets in anger, protesting against the &#8216;honor killings&#8217;.<br></p>
