<p>The drug crew that sold actor Michael K. Williams the fentanyl-laced heroin that triggered his fatal overdose now faces criminal charges, prosecutors announced Wednesday<br>Four people have been arrested in connection with the drug overdose death last year of Williams, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. <br>One of the four Irvin &#8220;Green Eyes&#8221; Cartagena, the dealer who handed the heroin is charged with selling the fentanyl-laced heroin that allegedly killed Williams, famed for his role as Omar Little in the HBO series &#8220;The Wire.&#8221; <br>A family member conducting a welfare check found Williams unconscious in his Williamsburg penthouse apartment along the East River waterfront, NYC officials said. <br>Two senior NYPD officials said at the time that drug paraphernalia was discovered in the apartment and that Williams may have overdosed on fentanyl. Responding emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. </p>

<p>Williams, 54, was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment Sept. 6. Later that month, the medical examiner&#8217;s office confirmed that he had died of an overdose. <br>Cartagena, 39, is the only person charged directly with Williams&#8217; death and could face a life sentence if convicted, according to prosecutors. <br>Prosecutors said Cartagena was caught on surveillance video selling Williams drugs on Sept. 5 outside a South Williamsburg apartment building on South Third Street. Williams died the next day, prosecutors said. <br>The drug crew which also included Hector &#8220;Oreja&#8221; Robles, 57; Luis &#8220;Mostro&#8221; Cruz, 56; and Carlos &#8220;Carlito&#8221; Macci, 70, kept selling fentanyl-laced heroin throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan despite knowing it had led to Williams&#8217; death, according to prosecutors. <br>Cartagena was arrested in Puerto Rico on Tuesday. Hector Robles, Luis Cruz and Carlos Macci, were arrested in New York Tuesday. <br>Cartagena, Robles, Cruz and Macci all face conspiracy charges with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said. <br>Cartagena faces additional charges tied to Williams&#8217; death that could get him an additional 20 years.</p>
