<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The manhunt for an Alabama ;man wanted for his alleged role in the 2017 murder of his former sister-in-law, a beloved school teacher has ended. Darin Christopher Starr surrendered to law enforcement officers in Texas early Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. He had been sought since December 2, after he was indicted in a murder-for-hire plot with his younger brother<br>The victim&#8217;s estranged husband, Jason Starr, allegedly hired his brother as a hitman to kill his ex-wife and mother of his four children because he didn’t want to pay her $2,550 a month in their divorce for child support. <br>Jason Starr allegedly paid his brother Darin Starr with cash and a motorcycle to shoot dead schoolteacher Sara Starr back in November. Central Alabama Crime Stoppers said the fugitive turned himself in about 1:30 a.m. to law enforcement officer in Hondo, Texas and the Coffee County sheriff’s officials are en route to Texas to bring him back to Alabama</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Darin Starr, 54, ;is the second person to face charges in connection to the murder of 36-year-old Sara Starr, the FBI ;said in a release posted by the Coffee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office last week. ;<br>Jason Starr, 45, was taken into custody in December 2021 on a murder-for-hire charge, after four years with no arrests in the case.<br>Although Starr was questioned about his ex-wife&#8217;s death at the time, he was never publicly named a person of interest. <br>However, media coverage surrounding Jason Starr&#8217;s arrest in a child abuse case just a year later raised questions in the community about his possible involvement in Sara&#8217;s murder. ;  ; ;<br>On May 24, 2018, Jason Starr was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age. He pled not guilty and was released from Coffee County Jail on a $30,000 bond. <br>That child sex abuse arrest led to renewed interest in the death of his ex-wife, his subsequent arrest and being indicted for her murder.<br>&#8216;This is four years in the making,&#8217; Twelfth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tom Anderson said at a press conference following his arrest in December. ;<br>&#8216;We knew we had strong, decent evidence but knowing someone did something and being able to prove someone did something are two different things. <br>Over the last two years and the tireless efforts of everyone involved here we are.&#8217; ; <br>Sara Starr was shot and killed in her driveway of her Enterprise, Alabama home on November 27, 2017.</p>

That information was in court records unsealed Thursday.<br>Sara Starr, a 38-year-old mother of two sets of twins and beloved teacher, was shot and killed in her driveway of her Enterprise, Alabama home on November 27, 2017. <br>Sara, who taught at Harrand Creek Elementary School, was found dead in her driveway after her co-workers became concerned when she failed to show up for class on the Monday after Thanksgiving. ; <br>Jason Starr, Sara&#8217;s ex-husband is the brother of the alleged hitman Darin Starr. Jason who has been in custody since December, is accused of battering a 2016 Triumph motorcycle and plus an undisclosed amount of cash to his brother in exchange for killing his ex-spouse.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jason Starr pled not guilty to the &#8216;use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire&#8217; charge and was released to his home with an ankle monitor pending a June 27 trial date. <br>The ;grand jury indictment revealed details of a murder-for-hire plot between the brothers, in November, 2017. ; ;The indictment alleges that Jason Starr, who had recently divorced his wife, was in contact with his brother about the murder plot and the two traveled from Texas to Alabama to execute the plan. ; ; ; ;<br>In December, a federal arrest warrant was issued for his brother Darin Starr in U.S. District Court on December 2, 2021, for the same charge. ;<br>The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Darin, who is believed to have connections to Lakehills and San Antonio, Texas, as well as Glendale, Ariz. and Colebrook, Conn. ;</p>
