<p>Houston police are hunting a murder suspect who googled &#8216;how to be a serial killer&#8217; after they questioned and then released him. <br>Chukwuebuka Nwobodo, 28, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the April 16 disappearance of California resident Felicia Johnson, 24. <br>Investigators believe that Nwobodo murdered and dismembered Johnson by luring her to his apartment with the promise of $500. She had travelled to Houston from San Diego for an unsuccessful audition at a local strip club. <br>Houston Police Department executed a search warrant on the home of Nwobodo on May 13 and arrested him upon finding a mountain of evidence, including blood, weapons, receipts, and supplies in the suspect&#8217;s car and Johnson&#8217;s blood and DNA in his apartment. <br>Additionally, they found a photo of a dismembered woman on his phone and three other photos of dead bodies. <br>Authorities said evidence recovered suggests &#8220;Nwobodo killed Johnson inside his apartment&#8221; before disposing of her body and personal belongings in Bear Creek Pioneers Park &#8220;at some point within the next few days&#8221; after April 16. </p>

<p>It is not clear why police released the suspect from custody after these discoveries, but a Houston PD said he was &#8216;released pending further inquiries&#8217;. Nwobodo soon disappeared and is still at large. <br>The fugitive was not formally charged until June 9.<br>Johnson&#8217;s body has not been found, but police released details of internet searches Nwobodo had made which included: &#8216;What does bleach do to blood&#8217;, &#8216;how to be a serial killer&#8217;, &#8216;how does one plan a murder without getting caught&#8217; and &#8216;most forested part of Houston.&#8217; <br>He also searched for &#8220;Houston escorts,&#8221; according to court documents.<br>In the charging documents, Sgt. B.A. Roberts wrote, &#8216;Nwobodo made multiple online searches after April 16, 2022, relative to cleaning DNA evidence, deleting digital information, missing persons investigations, and how to get away with murder.&#8217; </p>

<p>Police connected Nwobodo to the case when they subpoenaed Uber records that showed he had ordered the car that collected Johnson from the Intercontinental Hotel, where she had been staying, to the suspect&#8217;s old address on Windchase Blvd on April 16.<br>Police say the suspect picked her up from that location and took her to his new residence on Richmond Avenue. The pair had been communicating on Snapchat and Johnson is believed to have agreed to go to Nwobodo&#8217;s house in return for a sum of money. <br>Johnson had travelled to Houston from San Diego for an unsuccessful audition at a local strip club.<br>A family friend of the Johnsons in Houston searched for her and found her bloodied phone in Bear Creek Park, where they believe Nwobodo disposed of her remains. <br>Bank records showed that he withdrew $500 on April 16 and that on the 16th and 17th he bought supplies from Walmart and Home Depot including a flashlight, shirt, gloves, saws, trash bags, and towels. <br>When officers searched his vehicle, they found a gun, latex gloves, a large kitchen knife, and a shovel. They also found Johnson&#8217;s blood in his trunk and back seat, as well as blood stains throughout his apartment. <br>Nwobodo was still googling &#8216;Houston escorts&#8217; on April 30, nearly two weeks after Johnson&#8217;s apparent murder, a disturbing development given that he also researched &#8216;how to be a serial killer&#8217;. <br>The murder suspect earlier appeared on police radar in November 2020, after he was investigated for sexual assault. That case was dismissed when the alleged victim refused to press charges. </p>
