<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Houston police have arrested a carjacker who shot dead his friend before stealing his car and then leaving his toddler inside to die in the sweltering heat.<br>Bolanle Fadairo, 38, has been charged with the murder of Michael Essien and his two-year-old son, Micah, in Houston, Texas, on September 20. <br>Michael Essien, 38, got into an argument with the suspect Bolanle Fadairo, at a shopping center in Houston, before being shot dead in front of his young son, with the gunman taking off in his victims SUV. The men reportedly knew each other and were both security guards.<br>Micah was still in the backseat, and was found hours later by officers who believe he died as a result of heat exhaustion &#8211; with outside temperatures reaching 93F. <br>Bolanle Fadairo was arraigned in a Harris County court on Thursday morning, where he admitted to the judge that he hade known the 38-year-old father he is accused of killing for more than 30 years. <br>He told a judge they had an argument over money owed.<br>The incident reportedly started about 1:45 p.m. Sept. 20 at 5501 El Camino Del Rey Street and the death of a child found about 7:10 p.m. at 5900 Elm Street. <br>HPD’s Southwest Crime Suppression Team took<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.kwtx.com/2022/09/21/houston-suspect-arrested-killing-where-2-year-old-was-found-dead/" target="_blank"> Fadairo into custody at 4 a.m. Sept. 21</a> without further incident in the 5500 block of El Camino Del Rey Street.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadairo police said, deleted messages between himself and Essien before he was arrested, with officers confirming the pair had arranged to meet. <br>The reason for the meeting has not yet been revealed, but cops swooped on Fadairo just yards away from where the shooting took place at 4am on Wednesday morning. <br>The complaint affidavit alleges that Fadairo allegedly tried to destroy some text messages. <br>&#8220;(Fadairo) admitted he had incriminating texts between him and the decedent, detailing disagreement about money, and deleted them after he killed decedent.,&#8221; the judge said.<br>While a motion had been filed to deny bond in this case, the murder suspect was granted a $750,000 bond for each of the murder charges and a $50,000 bond for the tampering with evidence charge.<br>According to his defense attorney, Fadairo works three jobs to support a child, while earning $15,000 a year.<br>Footage, obtained by ABC, show Fadiaro putting his hands up and then on the hood of a cop car after he was surrounded by officers.<br>Essien’s wife reported that her husband and 2-year-old son were missing at around 6.40pm, hours after he was shot multiple times by Fadairo at 1:45pm in El Camino Del Rey.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The dad-of-three leaves behind his wife and two other children, including a baby girl who was born just a week ago.<br>Officers discovered the stolen vehicle with the toddler inside five hours after his father was shot. ;<br>An autopsy report is yet to be completed on the toddler, but investigators believe that he died from heat exhaustion after being abandoned in the car since around 2pm.<br>Officers broke the glass from the SUV and attempted to save the child, but he was pronounced dead by the time an ambulance arrived.</p>

He ran and said, &#8220;Hi, Auntie Jessie&#8221;.<br>‘Michael has a 5-year-old son and a 1-week-old baby, 1-week old. Michael has a wife. Lord Jesus, all I need is my brother.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadairo before the shooting reportedly, complained that Essien owed him some money.<br>Aliyah LaDay who lives in the apartment complex where Fadairo was arrested told <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyKI0FI0obc">KHOU11</a> that he was just telling a day before that someone owed him some money and he was going to do something about it, but she didn&#8217;t figure &#8221; he was goin to do this.&#8221;<br>The suspect reportedly worked as a security man at the apartment complex.<br>Investigators believe that Fadairo met his victim at the agreed location, with the pair arguing before he shot his friend multiple times.<br>Essien fled a short distance, before collapsing in the parking lot as Fadairo stole his Chevrolet Traverse with Micha in the back and fled the scene. <br>Houston Police launched a manhunt for ;Fadairo and issued surveillance footage of him after the incident.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite told reporters: ‘We never knew about the child until she called. Sadly, it was too late. The child had passed in the car. <br>&#8216;At this time, we don&#8217;t know why or how or what the cause of death will be. It could be something like heat exhaustion, we just don&#8217;t know.<br>&#8216;That will be determined later through autopsy. &#8216;It&#8217;s the hardest thing we do. Children are innocent.&#8217;<br>Surveillance footage of the Fadairo shows him calmly walking around a convenience store after the killing, wearing black shorts, a white t-shirt, and an Oakland Raiders baseball-cap.<br>At the conclusion of his bond hearing on Thursday, Fadairo ordered to have no contact with any of Essien&#8217;s family members or any witnesses.<br>The judge also ordered that he should not consume drugs or alcohol, and he must stay within the limits of Harris County.</p>
