<p class="wp-block-paragraph">An abducted 15-year-old girl and her father, who was wanted over the death of the teenager’s mother, have both died following a shootout with police in California’s high desert. Both were killed in a shootout with sheriff&#8217;s deputies on the 15 Freeway in Hesperia Tuesday, authorities said.<br>It is not immediately clear if Savannah Graziano was shot by the responding deputies or her father.<br>Anthony John Graziano, 45, had allegedly killed his estranged wife Tracy Martinez on Monday, a day earlier, and abducted their daughter.<br>Investigators had issued an Amber Alert after Graziano fled. He was described as armed and dangerous.<br>An emergency caller reported seeing the suspect’s Nissan Frontier around Barstow, according to the sheriff’s department.<br>Deputies located the pickup truck and chased it on the highway for around 45 miles.<br>Throughout the chase, Graziano – and possibly also his daughter – was &#8216;constantly shooting back at the deputies&#8217; through the truck’s rear window, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said.<br>Savannah was killed after getting out of the truck during the fire-fight and running towards the deputies while wearing tactical gear and a helmet, police said. <br>However sheriff Dicus said, it is unclear if the teen was armed when she ran toward deputies, or if she fired at deputies at any time during the dangerous pursuit, but only one weapon, a rifle, was recovered from the scene.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While giving chase, the gunman fired several rounds through a patrol car’s windshield and later disabled a second pursuing vehicle.<br>The pickup truck became disabled on the shoulder of a highway in the city of Hesperia, and the firefight ensued.<br>Sheriff Dicus said the girl was wearing tactical gear as she exited a truck’s passenger side and ran towards the sheriff’s deputies.<br>She fell to the ground amid the gunfire.<br>The deputies did not initially realize it was the girl who was running toward them, Sheriff Dicus said, because she was wearing a helmet and a military-style vest that can hold armored plates.<br>She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.<br>Her father was found in the driver’s seat and pronounced dead at the scene. A rifle was found inside the car.<br>One deputy was injured by shrapnel during the firefight, Sheriff Dicus said.<br>Graziano allegedly killed Tracy Martinez, 45, on Monday morning in a domestic violence shooting in the city of Fontana, near San Bernardino, according to Fontana police.<br>Family members told investigators that the couple had been going through a divorce. <br>Martinez, 45, was shot and killed during a domestic violence shooting. <br>The married couple were now estranged and had been living separately for more than a month. Witnesses said children were being dropped off at school when the shooting occurred. <br>The victim, according to witnesses, was in a van that she later crashed. She got out of the vehicle and fell to the ground after being shot, the witness said. She later died at a hospital.<br>At some point Anthony Graziano allegedly abducted their 15-year-old daughter, prompting an Amber Alert in several counties.<br>Police said the teenager was shot when she exited a truck’s passenger side wearing tactical gear. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The married couple were now estranged and had been living separately for more than a month. <br>Graziano had been living with the teenager out of his pickup truck and hotels for weeks before the violence, authorities said Wednesday. <br>He had moved out of the family’s home a month or two before the mother’s killing, as the couple went through a divorce. Their older child Savannah, left with her father, while her younger brother stayed with their mother. <br>Fontana police had not received any reports of domestic violence at the home before the Monday&#8217;s murder and child services had not been involved with the family, cops said.<br>Neither parent was on probation or parole at the time and investigators believe Savannah was being home-schooled while she lived with her father, who allegedly&#8217; liked to camp out in the desert and mountains in his pickup truck.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Officers responded at around 7:30am Tuesday to reports of gunfire, and found an adult female with multiple gunshot wounds in Fontana, according to the police report.<br>The victim later identified as Tracy Martinez, is the estranged wife of the suspect, Anthony John Graziano. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead..<br>On Monday, witnesses saw Martinez walking in Fontana when Graziano picked her up in his truck.<br> It is not clear whether she was forced into the vehicle or got in on her own. She got in “And immediately that’s when they started arguing and yelling and domestic violence was occurring,” Sheriff Dicus said. <br>Martinez got out of the truck, possibly seeking to escape, then Graziano opened fire on her with a handgun, striking her multiple times, Surgent said. <br>The shooting which happened on the street near Cypress Elementary school during morning drop-off forced students and parents to duck for cover. <br>Graziano fled the scene and drove to get Savannah, who had been somewhere else at the time — likely wherever they had been staying that day, Surgent said. The son was at the family’s home at the time and was not involved.<br>The next day, a 911 caller reported seeing the suspect’s Nissan Frontier around Barstow, nearly 70 miles (112 kilometers) north of Fontana.<br>Deputies located the pickup truck and chased it on the highway for around 45 miles (70 kilometers) to Hesperia. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The initial police report states that throughout the pursuit Graziano, and possibly his daughter, both were “constantly shooting back at the deputies” with a rifle through the truck’s rear window, Dicus said at Tuesday&#8217;s at news conference.<br>Getting to Hesperia, a firefight ensued between the occupants of the truck and deputies.<br>Savannah was shot as she exited the vehicle and ran toward deputies amid the gunfire. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before noon.<br>Her father was found in the driver’s seat and pronounced dead at the scene. There has been no indication that firearm was found on the teenager, but one rifle was found beside the father in the truck.</p>
