<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Texas search and rescue team began trawling through an eight-foot deep landfill site the size of a football pitch on Monday to find a missing two-year-old girl whose father was spotted by a dumpster with a stroller. Her mom, Nancy Reed was strangled by her dad and police suspect the toddler may also be a victim of foul play.<br>Nadia Lee was last seen in her father&#8217;s apartment building in Pasadena, Texas, on October 15 before her father Jyron Charles Lee, 26 was captured on surveillance footage pushing a stroller around a dumpster, authorities said. <br>Nadia&#8217;s disappearance is being treated as a homicide by Houston Police Department. Authorities say that Jyron took Nadia out of foster care on October 14.<br>He has since been arrested and charged with murdering his wife and Nadia&#8217;s mother Nancy Reed, 22, by strangling her in a hotel room in Clear Lake, Houston.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The operation to search the landfill in the coastal town of Alvin will be carried out by EquuSearch, a Houston-based search and recovery group, that will use two track hoes and a bulldozer, its founder Tom Miller <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.kplctv.com/2022/11/01/landfill-searched-missing-2-year-old-girl/?outputType=amp" target="_blank">told local news outlet KHOU</a>.<br>Miller who founded EquuSearch in 2000 after his daughter Laura Miller was abducted in 1984 at the age of 16, announced that his team will consist of &#8217;18 people that are literally cutting open every bag&#8217;.<br>A spokesperson for Houston Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that the search is ongoing and Jyron is yet to be handed any additional charges. <br>The landfill site in Alvin, Texas, is the size of a football pitch and 8 foot deep. Every bag will be opened, the Texas search team said.<br>Jyron Lee and and his common law wife Nancy Reed had five children together, family members <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://abc13.com/nadia-lee-2-year-old-missing-child-toddler-disappeared/12402432/" target="_blank">told ABC13</a>. The outlet reported that two of those children were present during the incident in which their mother was strangled to death.<br>The dispute arose over the way Reed disciplined their other child, the Houston Chronicle reported. <br>Police said the Leer claimed he was trying to stop the mother from harming one of their children: &#8220;He thought she was choking the baby or the child,&#8221; HPD Lt. Wilkens said. <br>&#8220;Not sure which one yet. He got behind her to put her in a chokehold to stop her. She went unconscious and that&#8217;s when he called us.&#8221;<br>Child Protective Services have the two children present, aged 1 and 3, in their care as they look for possible family members in the Houston area to take care of them, police said.<br>On Monday Lee remained in the Harris County Jail on a $250,000 bond and Police have said that he may face additional charges over the disappearance of his daughter Nadia. <br>&#8216;It is heartbreaking. It really is,&#8217; Nadia’s grandmother Nora Reed told ABC13. <br>&#8216;My heart is breaking in half. I just hope we find the baby, we find Nadia.<br>&#8216;Why would he do something like this and why would he do it in front of his children?&#8217; she added. &#8216;My heart is just broken.&#8217;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a press conference on October 21 Houston Police said that they would be treating Nadia&#8217;s disappearance as a homicide.<br>Miller said that Jyron checked Nadia out of foster care on October 14 and never returned her.<br>He said that Jyron claims the child was with him at his apartment on October 16 when he took the trash out, but when he returned, the child was gone.<br></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Miller said during the conference that his team spent hours last month searching a bayou and wooded area near Jyron’s apartment. <br>&#8216;We have received information, as well as physical evidence, and digital forensic evidence to determine foul play was involved,&#8217; HPD Sergeant Blake Roberts said.<br>He also said that that authorities had collected DNA from Lee&#8217;s apartment.<br>Investigators believe that the 2-year-old was killed in Charles’ apartment and then moved, ABC13 reported sources as telling them. <br>Miller said during the conference that his team spent hours last month searching a bayou and wooded area near Jyron’s apartment.<br>&#8216;I don&#8217;t think this is going to have a positive outcome we would like to have,&#8217; said Miller during the conference. &#8216;One of my biggest fears is there may not be an outcome.&#8217; <br><br></p>
