<p>A PhD student at a neighboring college has been arrested for the murders of four University of Idaho students almost six weeks ago. <br>28-year-old Bryan Christopher Kohberger has been arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the killings on November 13. The suspect is a graduate student at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Pullman is a 15-minute drive from the rental home in Moscow, Idaho, where the four students were slain in a brutal knife attack.<br>Three residents of the home &#8211; Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, and Xana Kernodle, 20, were stabbed to death &#8211; along with Xana&#8217;s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, who was staying over that night. <br>All four victims were students at the University of Idaho.</p>

<p>The arrest affidavit filed by Pennsylvania State Police in Monroe County Court on Friday stated Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was being held for extradition in a criminal homicide investigation in the killings of four University of Idaho students.<br>Kohberger is being held for extradition in Monroe County Court for first-degree murder issued by the Moscow Police Department and the Latah County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office in connection to the slayings of Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, both 21, In Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022.<br>A white Hyundai Elantra was towed from the home where the suspect was arrested.<br>The lack of leads in the mysterious killings initially baffled investigators in the small college town.<br>The four students were each stabbed multiple times in the torso and were likely ambushed in their sleep with a large fix-bladed knife between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Nov. 13, according to the coroner and police. <br>Two surviving female roommates, who lived on the basement level, appeared to have slept through the gruesome attack.</p>

<p>Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the Idaho quadruple murders, once canvassed <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/reddit/index.html" target="_blank">Reddit</a> asking criminals how they planned their crimes and selected victims as part of his research for his criminal studies degrees. <br>Kohberger, 28, is in custody awaiting extradition from Pennsylvania to Idaho. </p>

<p>Kaylee Goncalves and Maddie Mogen were found on the top floor of the Moscow, Idaho home. College lovers Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were found in a second-floor bedroom while survivors Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke were sleeping on the first floor.<br>Authorities have been left baffled by the brutal killings and have repeatedly appealed for the public for help with the case.<br>Reports from both coroner and police confirm that each of the students had been stabbed multiple times in the torso – and were ambushed in their sleep.<br>Police have found no evidence of a sex crime, and the victims had wounds on their bodies which indicated that they tried to fight of the attacker.</p>

<p>According to the police report, the last known movements of at least two of the victims, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, was their visit to a food truck at 1.43am-1.53am. It&#8217;s unclear if they went straight home, but police say they were murdered shortly afterwards sometime between 3am and 4am. <br>Initially cops said they thought all four were assaulted as they slept, with Goncalves father saying she had the worst injuries from the incident, having suffered &#8216;gouging wounds&#8217; and &#8216;rips&#8217;.<br>The Chief of police at Moscow Police Department himself admitted that investigators did not understand how the two surviving roommates &#8211; Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen – appeared to sleep through the attack.<br>&#8216;Multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher before a Moscow Police officer arrived at the location,&#8217; authorities said in a previous statement.<br>When they arrived at the scene, they said, they found Kernodle and Chapin, who were in a relationship, on the bottom floor, with Mogen and Goncalves sharing a bed on the top floor.<br>Authorities believe they were all stabbed to death somewhere between 3am to 4am that morning, after enjoying a night out.</p>

<p>Authorities are today clearing the property, but previously state that they do not know how long it will take to clean up the property – adding it will be &#8216;returned to the property manager when complete.&#8217;<br>The update comes just days after Fry told KREM his investigators are still waiting for crime lab results from evidence collected at the scene.<br>&#8216;We don&#8217;t want to rush that, we want to ensure that they&#8217;re taking their time to get all of that right,&#8217; the police chief said in an interview Tuesday.<br>He added: &#8216;Real life and the movies are a lot different. You know, in the movies, they have all [the results] back in an hour.<br>&#8216;We don&#8217;t get that in real life, so we&#8217;re going to be patient.&#8217;</p>

<p>It remains unclear whether any DNA was retrieved from the scene.<br>Earlier in the night, newly-released surveillance footage shows, Goncalves and Madison Mogen inside the Corner Club bar at 1.32am chatting with an unidentified man, wearing a baseball cap, minutes before they ran to pick up food.<br>The girls were seen with their backs turned to the surveillance camera inside the bar, which appeared to be filled with a mix of young and older adults.</p>

<p>Authorities confirmed that there were &#8216;several friends&#8217; inside the property when the 911 call was made, who have been assisting police with their inquiries. <br>The two roommates who live on the basement floor, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, survived the brutal attack in the rental house which saw their fellow University of Idaho students Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen killed.</p>

<p>Authorities have previously said they Goncalves and Mogen were last spotted at a food truck at around 1.40am on November 13, before running to meet their ride home.<br>They returned to their off-campus house at 1.56am, at around the same time that Kernodle and Chapin returned from a fraternity house.<br>Their other housemates got back about 45 minutes earlier and were left unharmed in the attack.<br></p>
