<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Shocking footage shows a nurse mowing down her former lover from behind in a rugby club car park in Swansea, South Wales.<br>Rebecca Thomas, 37, flew into a rage at ex-boyfriend David Robinson, 45, after spending the evening drinking. <br>A court heard she grabbed and punched him inside her car &#8211; before a &#8220;red mist descended&#8221; in the car park.<br>CCTV footage showed victim Mr Robinson trying to leave when a raging Thomas smashed her SUV into him from behind.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite her admittance to the charges of battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and dangerous driving at Swansea Crown Court, she was spared jail time and given a suspended sentence. In the end she was been banned from driving. <br>In September last year the 37-year-old nurse grabbed and punched her 45-year-old boyfriend inside her vehicle &#8211; before a &#8216;red mist descended&#8217; in the car park and she drove into him. David Robinson lay on the ground in the car park for almost five minutes before he was rescued. <br>Jurors were also told that Thomas had never been as &#8216;drunk as she was on that day&#8217;.<br>CCTV footage shows Robinson trying to flee the onslaught when Thomas smashed her car into him from behind, miraculously leaving him with just a black eye and bruising.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the footage Robinson is seen flipping on to the hood before he crashed into the ground at Birchgrove Rugby Club in Swansea.<br>Prosecutor Brian Simpson said: “He lies there for about four and a half minutes before passers by come to help him. He then went to his new girlfriend’s house and later to hospital.” <br>The pair had broken up four months before the row erupted in September last year.<br>Simpson said: &#8220;Mr Robinson recalls being in the driver’s seat of the defendant’s car where she grabbed him, punched him, and pulled off his neck chain”.<br>The victim in his testimony said that “he had never seen the defendant as drunk as she was on that day&#8221;.<br>Swansea Crown Court heard the pair were both were drunk at the time of the incident. Neither could not remember much of what transpired. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Robinson suffered tenderness to the neck and arm, a black eye and bruising but was discharged from hospital with no serious injuries.<br>Defense counsel Robin Rouch told the court his client no previous record of convictions or cautions, adding that she is a nurse by profession and someone who is &#8220;highly valued.&#8221;<br>Handing down the verdict, Judge Geraint Walters said: “You were both heavily under the influence. This incident would not have happened if it was not for that.<br>&#8220;The reality is having been together that day the red mist descended on you.<br>&#8220;There was an altercation between you. When he walks off you drive away and you veer the car into him.”<br>Thomas, of Birchgrove, Swansea, admitted battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and dangerous driving.<br>She was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years and a 30-hour rehabilitation activity requirement.
