<p>With friends and former patients starting a justice course police in Detroit, Michigan, have intensified investigation into gathering clues in the murder of Devon Hoover, a highly-regarded doctor at his home in an upscale neighborhood in the Boston Edison Historic District.<br>The pre-eminent neurosurgeon was found fatally shot and wrapped in a sheet in his attic after police conducted a welfare check on his $1.2m mansion after he failed to show up at a family party. <br>Dr Hoover, 53, cops believe, was killed in a domestic situation turned violent. His car was discovered in a separate location. <br>The Ascension Michigan Hospital doctor, who is thought to have lived alone, was regarded as one of the top medical professionals in the state.<br>No motive has yet been confirmed for the &#8216;wonderful&#8217; surgeon&#8217;s murder and no arrests have been made since his body was discovered on Sunday evening. </p>

<p>The lucrative area is one of the most upscale neighborhoods in the city, and according to its website numerous Michigan celebrities including heavyweight boxer Joe Louis and baseball star Willie Horton have lived there. <br>Hoover&#8217;s neighbor, Jonathan Shearrod, told <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.detroitnews.com/restricted/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.detroitnews.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Fdetroit-city%2F2023%2F04%2F25%2Fman-found-fatally-shot-in-home-in-detroits-boston-edison-district%2F70149209007%2F" target="_blank">Detroit News</a>: &#8216;It&#8217;s going to take some time to wrap your head around what has happened.&#8217; <br>He said that the renowned neurosurgeon lived alone, but was an &#8216;anchor of the block&#8217; and was &#8216;extremely involved in the neighborhood&#8217;, regularly hosting parties and functions in his lavish home. <br>&#8216;I just can&#8217;t imagine anyone experiencing that in their home or just having to face that kind of terror where you live,&#8217; adding, “He’s just a wonderful person. I mean, the home looks amazing because he was an ardent reservationist, restorationist.”</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><strong>The leading neurosurgeon&#8217;s was praised as a &#8216;dedicated and well-respected&#8217; doctor by his employer, Ascension Michigan Hospital. <strong>His profile on his hospital website said he had &#8216;a special interest in the treatment of neck and back disorders&#8217;. </strong></strong></p>



<p>Hoover&#8217;s profile on his hospital website said he had &#8216;a special interest in the treatment of neck and back disorders&#8217;. However, that profile has been taken down. <br>According to his biography, after completing his medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine, Hoover concluded his residency at Hendry Ford Hospital in Detroit. <br>&#8216;He also completed fellowships, one in peripheral nerve surgery at Louisiana State University School of Medicine with Dr. David Kline, and one in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital of Michigan with pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Alexa Canady,&#8217; the bio adds. <br>Until his passing Hoover was an employee of the Ascension Michigan Hospital who in their statement said: &#8216;Devon Hoover, MD, was a dedicated and well-respected member of the Ascension Michigan family and will be greatly missed by our community. <br>&#8216;Our sincerest condolence and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and fellow associated during this incredibly difficult time.&#8217; <br>Hoover was previously named in Hour Detroit Magazine as one of the leading neurological surgeons in Detroit in 2008. </p>

The shooting has shocked the upscale neighborhood, and several of Hoover&#8217;s friends, family and former patients have paid tribute to the top doctor on social media. <br>One of his colleagues wrote on Facebook: &#8216;Rest In Peace beautiful and kind soul. You will forever be missed. You taught me how to love Neuro surgery working alongside you in the operating room. <br>&#8216;Your patience was unmatched. Prayers to your family and all those that knew you. We are devastated that we have lost you! May your legacy and love for surgery forever live in those that were touched by your presence in this world.&#8217;<br>&#8216;Last weekend, we lost a beloved colleague,&#8217; added another Ascension Hospital colleague. &#8216;A very talented doctor&#8230; a man who no one can say anything bad about. He was a true gentleman. He was genuine and loved to help people&#8217;. <br><br></p>
