<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A woman who allegedly shot and killed two vacationing NYU graduate students outside a nightclub in Puerto Rico has reportedly been detained.<br>The woman, who was seen in a video released by authorities, is expected to appear in court Tuesday morning as the search for additional suspects in the fatal shootings of Franco Medina, 29, and Sergio Palomino Ruiz, 28, continues, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://abc7ny.com/nyu-students-killed-suspect-detained-puerto-rico/13226353/" target="_blank">WABC reported</a>. <br>A woman seen on surveillance video firing a gun in the vicinity of the students on Saturday. The woman negotiated with police and turned herself into police.<br>The suspect reportedly, has a criminal record that includes violent crimes. The woman who has not been identified, covered her face and kept her head down as she walked by reporters in Puerto Rico on her way into the station. Her name hasn&#8217;t been released.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Medina and Palomino Ruiz were celebrating a birthday with pals from NYU’s Stern School of Business when they were gunned down Saturday night, officials said.<br>The innocent bystanders were caught in crossfire when a dispute between the suspect and others escalated, officials said.<br>“They were bystanders and unfortunately this tragic event happened to them They didn’t want it, they didn’t see it, they just finished finals and they went on a holiday,” classmate Connie Luc told the news outlet.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"> Another classmate, Nick Mica, said: “They were kindhearted people and unfortunately they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.<br>“Losing someone is tough, but especially your classmates in a timeframe when you need to be focused on school work, it is tough to keep your mind in the right place,” he added to WABC.<br>In a statement, NYU said the school is “brokenhearted and shocked” by the deaths. <br>A <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/always-in-our-thoughts-franco-sergio?utm_medium=referral&;utm_source=unknown&;utm_campaign=comms_gfm+always-in-our-thoughts-franco-sergio" target="_blank">GoFundMe </a>has been set up to help the families cover the cost of funeral expenses for the students.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“The University has been in touch with the remaining group members to offer them support and aid; none of the others were injured,” it said.<br>“NYU has also reached out to the families of the slain students to provide whatever assistance we can and to express the sympathies of the University community. In addition, our counseling service will make resources available to students in the MBA program, the Stern School community, and especially to the close peers and friends of the slain students. NYU grieves today with the family, loved ones, and friends of these students, whose lives ended tragically, suddenly, and far too early,” the university wrote.<br>NYU said counseling services are available to students who were in the same program and any friends of the victims. <br>The school also announced that there will be a candlelight vigil for Angulo and Ruiz on Thursday.<br></p>
