<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gunman who killed three people at UNLV was a 67-year-old college professor whose job application had just been turned down to work on campus he targeted before dying during his rampage.<br>Anthony Polito who shot dead three workers at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, wrote a 15-page theory on the Zodiac killer and posted about &#8216;powerful organizations bent on global domination.&#8217;<br>Polito, 67, who used a handgun in the massacre, died in a confrontation with police after he opened fire on the fourth floor of the Lee Business School at 11:45am, prompting a massive response from law enforcement. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The three victims of the horrific University of Nevada mass shooting reportedly, are all faculty members have at the college&#8217;s Las Vegas campus.<br>39-year-old Patricia Navarro-Velez, a mother-of-four, was an assistant professor in the university&#8217;s accounting department, and Cha Jan &#8216;Jerry&#8217; Chang, 64, a longtime professor in the business faculty, have been named as two of three staff to lose their lives in the shooting on Wednesday. <br>Chang&#8217;s death was ruled as being caused by a gunshot wound to the head, while a coroner ruled Navarro-Velez died from multiple gunshot wounds. <br>The third victim, also a faculty member, however will not be named until their next of kin is informed. <br>A fourth person was also shot in the spree but is in stable condition.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Investigators, though still looking into a motive, revealed that Polito who lives in Henderson, Nevada, was rejected from a teaching position at the school at some point but not recently, however he may have known someone there. <br>Polito had connections to schools in other states and was on staff at East Carolina University in North Carolina between 2001 and 2017. <br>The shooter maintained a website about his life, describing himself as a &#8216;Semi-Retired University Professor&#8217; and posting various topics &#8211; including his claim that decoded cryptic messages sent by the Zodiac killer.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There is another section titled: &#8216;Powerful Organizations Bent on Global Domination!&#8217; <br>Among the organizations listed are the Rothchild family, Bilderberg Group, the International Monetary Fund and Economics Department of MIT. <br>In that section, he posted a link to a website created by far-right wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, just as in the section dedicated to his favorite movies, Polito states that each selected film &#8216;argues a truth with powerful eloquence.&#8217;<br>Elsewhere on the page, Polito lists his own personal theories on various mysteries including, the Zodiac killer, the fate of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and the true meaning of the 2010 Leonardo DiCaprio movie Inception. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Polito listed his skills as public speaking, research, student affairs, teaching and statistics, among others. <br>While over on his website, Polito published 109 pages of alleged positive affirmations regarding his teaching from students. <br>According to his bio, he attended Radford University where he completed a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics and Statistics as a double major.<br>He also listed a Master of Business Administration at The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University before going on to earn his PhD from the University of Georgia&#8217;s Terry College of Business. <br>On his LinkedIn page, Polito claimed to enjoy hearing positive feedback from his students. <br>&#8216;The greatest gifts and takeaways I possess from my many years within higher education are the many kind &; positive comments students made regarding my instruction and disposition toward them,&#8217; he wrote. <br>However, his failed bid to land a job with UNLV&#8217;s business faculty as reported by <a href="https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/unlv-police-report-shots-fired-on-campus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">8 News Now</a>, stands out as his most recent interaction with the college. According to some sources, he may also have had connections to a person who works on campus. </p>

A fourth victim was shot but is in a stable condition, said Sheriff Kevin McMahill, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday night.<br>He said four additional people are in hospital after suffering panic attacks, and two officers were treated for minor injuries.<br>McMahill praised the &#8216;heroic&#8217; officer who stopped Polito, but said they were unable to specify what weapon was used.</p>

There is no threat to other campuses, but they are closed out of an abundance of caution.&#8217;</p>

In response to the campus shootings, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop of all flights coming into airport. </p>

That is where stuff started to get more hectic&#8230; the yelling was officers and they came in and we all put our hands up and they escorted us all the way out here&#8230; I did see one glass shattered, it looks like by two gunshots.&#8217; </p>
