<p>New Hampshire father Adam Montgomery has been found guilty of the murder of his five-year-old daughter Harmony, five years ago.<br>The jury found Montgomery, 34, guilty of second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse among other charges after six hours of deliberation following a two-week trial. <br>Montgomery was accused of repeatedly punching the helpless child in the face after she had a bathroom accident while sleeping in the car in December 2019. <br>Montgomery and his wife Kayla then took opioids and ate fast food as their daughter lay dying of her injuries on the backseat of the car. </p>

<p>Kayla Montgomery was Harmony&#8217;s biological Mother. The five-year-old was born to Adam and Crystal Sorey. The child was in the father&#8217;s custody.<br>Harmony was only reported missing in 2022, two years later, when her mother, who did not have custody of the child, discovered she had never been enrolled in school. Manchester police then declared her a missing person in December 2022. <br>A Massachusetts watchdog agency later found that the state&#8217;s child welfare system did not prioritize Harmony&#8217;s &#8216;needs, well-being and safety&#8217; in placing her in her father&#8217;s care. <br>He faces life imprisonment with no chance of parole, and will be sentenced at a later date. <br>The violent felon, who had previously been jailed for shooting a drug dealer in the face, is currently serving a thirty-two-and-a-half year sentence for an unrelated fire arms case. <br>Montgomery has also been found guilty of second-degree assault, falsifying physical evidence, and tampering with witnesses and informants. </p>

<p>Harmony, who was blind in one eye, was last seen alive in 2019 and her body has not yet been recovered.<br>&#8216;This is not a day we celebrate,&#8217; the adoptive parents of Harmony&#8217;s brother Jamison said in a statement. <br>&#8216;It is a day that only adds to the incredible pain and heartache that surrounds a little girl who was never given a chance&#8217; Blair and Johnathon Miller, who were attempting to assume care for Harmony at the time. <br>&#8216;Jamison would go to the front door, hoping Harmony would find us, he would search for her in a park&#8217; they said. <br>Adding: &#8216;As we now dig deep within our hearts to find the ability to offer forgiveness, we look to our son to give him the strength to fight off the demons that this tragedy has brought for a lifetime.&#8217;<br>New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu described Montgomery as a &#8216;monster&#8217; that &#8216;deserved to spend the rest of his life in prison.&#8217;<br>&#8216;I am grateful to the judge, jury, and Department of Justice for delivering justice for Harmony&#8217; the Republican wrote on X. </p>

<p>During the trial prosecutors described how the child-killer moved Harmony&#8217;s body from container to container and place to place as her body decayed.<br>The locations included the trunk of a friend&#8217;s car, a cooler in the hallway of his mother-in-law&#8217;s apartment building, the ceiling vent of a homeless shelter and an apartment freezer.<br>Montgomery&#8217;s estranged wife Kayla, step-mother to Harmony said that at one point the body was kept in a tote bag from a hospital maternity ward according to the same report.<br>Kayla, who is reported to have been there at the time of the murder, said she placed the tote bag in between her own young children in a stroller and brought it to her husband&#8217;s workplace.<br>Investigators described how Montgomery finally disposed of the body in early March 2020 with a rented moving truck.<br>Toll data shows the truck in question crossed the Tobin Bridge in Boston multiple times but there is no other highway data to help police identify the whereabouts of the body.<br>In April, police searched a marshy area in Revere, Massachusetts &#8211; but to no avail.</p>

<p>Prosecutor Ben Agati labelled Montgomery as an &#8216;enraged titan&#8217; for his heinous crime.<br>He said: &#8216;Adam Montgomery was no loving father. He was an enraged titan who had no business being around Harmony.<br>&#8216;On the day of Harmony&#8217;s death, all he had was his car, his rage, his fists. After he learns Harmony, soiled herself in the car.<br>&#8216;He took her life in rage over a bathroom accident.&#8217;<br>Montgomery is reported to have told his wife Kayla: &#8216;I think I really hurt her this time&#8217; after the fatal punch &#8211; and went on to say: &#8216;I felt something&#8217;.<br></p>
