<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Records show the man accused Tuesday of murder, alongside rapper Remy Ma’s son in connection to a fatal 2021 shooting in Queens, NYC, was already locked up in connection to two other murders from that same year, prosecutors said.<br>This suspect, 22-year-old Richard Swygert, was already being held in custody on Rikers Island when he was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday night alongside Jayson Scott, 23, the son of the 44-year-old Grammy nominated artiste Reminisce Smith, aka Remy Ma, over the June 7, 2021 brazen broad-daylight fatal shooting of <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/06/08/three-killed-two-wounded-as-nyc-bloody-summer-approaches/">Darius Guillebeaux,</a> in front of a hotel in Queens, NYC. <br>The duo have been charged with the murder of Guillebeaux. In addition to the murder rap, both men were also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment charges.<br>Scott’s mom, Reminisce Smith, better known by her stage name &#8216;Remy Ma&#8217; is a Grammy nominated rapper who got her start with Fat Joe’s group, Terror Squad, back in the 90s.<br>Scott&#8217;s mother is rapper Remy Ma, 44. A Bronx native who has a slew of violent arrests to her name. Ma&#8217;s musical career took a hiatus when she served six years in prison over the near-fatal shooting of a friend outside a Manhattan nightclub in 2007. She revitalized her show biz career once paroled, joining the cast of the reality show Love and Hip Hop, even earning a Grammy nomination since.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a strange turn of events Ma&#8217;s son Scott has been held in custody since May 9, in a separate gun case &#8211; He’s been held on $500,000 bail on criminal possession of a weapon charges, officials said.<br>The rap sheet for Scott&#8217;s co-conspirators Swygert, with the new murder charges, has risen to three murders cases within an eight-month period.<br>Swygert was previously nabbed in connection with the Jan. 1, 2021 slaying of Robert Williams outside the Umbrella Hotel in Kew Gardens, Queens. <br>The 20-year-old victim was blasted in the head and chest when the shooting broke out at the intersection of 148th Street and Rockaway Boulevard in Springfield Gardens back on June 7, 2021. Police are still probing a motive for the slaying, police sources said.<br>At the time of the shooting, police had said they believed a dispute may have preceded the bloodshed.<br>Eight months prior, Guillebeaux was among dozens snared and indicted by New York Attorney General Letitia James as part of a large-scale drug trafficking probe dubbed “Operation Heat Wave.”<br>As part of that operation, 54 suspects were charged with funneling heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine to Jefferson County in upstate New York.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Two others were injured during the shooting, which erupted amid a fight between two groups of men — a 20-year-old man was shot and wounded in the left leg, while a 40-year-old man was critically injured.<br>Swygert was also charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, assault in the first and second degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, prosecutors said.<br>At the time of that arrest, Swygert was already being held on a second-degree murder charge in connection to the early Aug. 13, 2021 murder of 22-year-old Dominick Malivert, who was shot multiple times in the stomach at the K-Show Bar on 138th Street in Flushing, NY. <br>A 22-year-old woman was also shot in her right hand during the incident at the karaoke bar but was expected to survive. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When Swygert was arrested on Aug. 19, he provided an incorrect name and date of birth, according to a criminal complaint. He is also charged in that case with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and impersonation.<br>A judge ordered him held without bail in connection to both cases, according to prosecutors.<br>Online records show he was being held at the George R. Vierno Center on Rikers Island, pending his next court appearance, for both slayings, on July 8.<br>Swygert is due in court to face trial in the Guillebeaux murder case, same as Scott, who also faces further charges of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment in the June 2021 murder.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Remy Ma has affirmed her support of her son: “We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth”.<br>The rapper in a statement issued through the law office of Dawn Florio who represent her son, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/06/19/remy-ma-son-charged-1st-degree-murder/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">carried by TMZ</a> said: “This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.<br>“As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything, as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”<br></p>
