Ultra-Orthodox New Jersey enclave of Lakewood, rocked after a mom stabbed and, drowned her girls, ages 1 and 3 

Naomi Elkins, 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon and other offenses relating to the deaths of her two children

Officers responding to reports of of children in cardiac arrest at the Lakewood home on Tuesday afternoon, met two children, being given lifesaving aid

Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene

The investigation by the ME’s office determined that the one-year-old was stabbed and that both children had been drowned by their mother, allegedly, in a bathtub

Mother-of-two Naomi Elkins was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon and other offenses relating to a double-killing of her two little girls. 
The 27-year-old Lakewood, New Jersey, woman has been charged with murder after allegedly drowning the two girls, aged one and three.
The suspect Naomi Elkins who is married and also has a graduate degree, is the mother of the two young victims.
The shocking murders happened in a typically quiet Orthodox Jewish community, which is home to the world’s largest yeshiva outside of Israel.  Officers had been called to an address on Shenandoah Drive in the New Jersey town, which is known for its large Orthodox Jewish population, at about 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday to reports of two children in cardiac arrest.
Responding officers on arrival met two children, aged one and three, being given lifesaving aid by Hatzolah Medical Services, a Jewish volunteer ambulance program. 
Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. Subsequently, the forensic investigation determined that the one-year-old was stabbed. Furthermore both girls had been drowned by their mother.  

Cops allegedly found the victims when they responded to reports of two children in cardiac arrest at an address on Shenandoah Drive in the New Jersey town of Lakewood

Elkins who is married and also has a graduate degree NBC10 reports, drowned the children in the bathtub at the address. She was taken into custody ‘without incident’ at the scene and transported to the Ocean County Jail where is she awaiting a detention hearing. 
It remains unclear when she will appear in court, but investigators were at the crime scene removing items from the home
