<p>Luigi Mangione was named as the person of interest in the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, police confirmed on Monday.<br>The 26-year-old suspect is originally from Towson, Maryland, and is an anti-capitalist former Ivy League student, a valedictorian at his highbrow Baltimore high school, who graduated with an engineering degree from Ivy league University of Pennsylvania, used to live in Honolulu, but also has ties to San Francisco. <br>He was arrested on firearm charges on Monday, after the elderly McDonald&#8217;s patron spotted him inside the restaurant. As of Monday he had not been charged in connection to the death of Thompson.</p>

<p>NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that: &#8216;Members of the Altoona Police Department arrested Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old male, on firearms charges.<br>&#8216;At this time, he is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen targeted murder of Brian Thompson.&#8217;<br>Thompson was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan last week, ahead of a work conference. <p>Mangione, who has been described as a Tech whiz does not have a criminal history, and police said his name was not on their radar until the arrest in Pennsylvania today.<br>He was found with a gun, a silencer, and a manifesto, which outlined his disdain for the healthcare system. The male figure was also wearing clothes that matched the description of the suspect.<br>Mangione graduated as valedictorian from the highbrow Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland, before attending the University of Pennsylvania and graduating in 2020 with a degree in engineering</p>

<p>Luigi Mangione, originally from Towson, Maryland, apparently hated the medical community because of how it treated his sick relative, sources said.<br>He has not been charged in the killing but was taken into custody Monday morning while eating at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, ending an intense manhunt sparked by the coldblooded execution of Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel in the early hours of December 4.<br>Although Mangione&#8217;s motives have not been revealed, the suspect&#8217;s once worked in an assisted-living facility for the elderly for a few months in 2014, while still in high school. <br>After losing a grandmother in 2013 and grandfather in 2017, Mangione apparently had a particularly personal reason to hate the medical community, its treatment of an ailing relative.<br>His two and a half page hand written manifesto mirrored the quotes that Mangione posted on his Goodreads account from the notorious anti-establishment figure “Unabomber’’. <br>Mad professor, Ted Kaczynski, terrorized the country with impunity for nearly two decades, mailing deadly bombs before he was betrayed by his brother in 1996. <br>More charges are being executed.<br><br></p>
