<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A jetBlue pilot whose arrest on February 20, at Boston&#8217;s Logan Airport moments before takeoff on an international flight caused a stir, is dead<br>Having failed to meet his bail obligations Jeremy Gudorf shot himself in a crowded train station parking lot in Boston, on Friday morning as police officers closed in to rearrest him. <br>Gudorf, 33, killed himself in his car in the Wonderland MBTA Station in Revere, which is five miles from downtown Boston, as troopers with the Massachusetts State Police fugitive team approached his vehicle. <br>&#8216;Gudorf was alive when troopers found him in the parking lot, before he pulled out a gun and &#8216;abruptly shot himself,&#8217; according to the police report. First aid by officers was futile as he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. <br>The Ohio resident had been tracked down to the parking lot weeks after he was arrested at Boston Logan Airport on February 20, on an outstanding warrant from North Carolina, where he was accused of the sexual exploitation of a minor. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gudorf was arrested at the airport last month when U.S. Customs and Border Protection conducted a review of the manifest of his Paris bound flight from Boston. He was flagged that he had an active warrant out of North Carolina for a charge of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.<br>He was subsequently charged in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice and was due to turn himself over to police in North Carolina to face those charges. He failed to make the trip. <br>It was reported that the troopers who witnessed the suicide were tasked with detaining the fugitive for extradition to North Carolina.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A statement from the Huntersville Police Department in North Carolina said it launched an investigation into Gudorf in October 2024 following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. <br>Investigators obtained a search warrant for Google during the investigation, allegedly leading them to find sexual exploitation images linked to Gudorf. <br>&#8216;At the time the crime was committed, records indicate he resided in Huntersville, NC. However, during the investigation, and before he was identified as a suspect, he relocated out of state.&#8217; <br>Following his arrest his bail was set at $10,000, on the condition he reported to North Carolina within a week, however when he never showed up. Officers tracked him to the station garage on Friday during rush hour. <br>Gudorf resides in Xenia, Ohio, about an hour northeast of Cincinnati, and prosecutors had requested that he be held without bail following his arrest at Logan Airport.<br>His employers, JetBlue, previously stated that Gudorf was placed on indefinite leave, and they were &#8216;closely reviewing&#8217; the case. </p>
