However, two conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, dissented.<br>Mr Justice Samuel Alito, issued a fiery minority opinion dissenting to the ruling &#8211; which forced the Trump administration to temporarily halt the deportation of any Venezuelans held in a northern Texas detention facility under an 18th-century wartime law.<br>In his minority opinion, Justice Alito cited a government lawyer who insisted the administration had no intention of deporting anyone on Good Friday or Easter Saturday.<br>Judy Maldonado Rall&#8217;s husband was one of the detainees whose deportation was halted by SCOTUS. <br>According to the report after the buses were turned around, a guard told her husband: &#8216;Well, you were lucky you were sent back because you were going to El Salvador, not Venezuela&#8217; &#8211; the supermax prison in El Salvador where the Trump administration previously sent more than 200 suspected gang members. <br>Eduardo Dabion Rall, a Venezuelan, complained of maltreatment inside the Bluebonnet Detention Center, describing attempts by DHS to coerce detainees to sign a removal order that would have sent them to places different from their countries of origin. Some of the men reportedly, refused to sign. </p>

Rarely used, the Act was last implemented against people of Japanese origin during WW II.<br>In March, President Donald Trump announced that he had signed a proclamation invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 as he accused Tren de Aragua of &#8220;perpetrating, attempting, and threatening an invasion or predatory incursion against the territory of the United States&#8221;.<br>In the footage, the motorcade reaches the airport but passes by the exit and loops back around, returning to Bluebonnet detention facility.<br>That evening, the Supreme Court was weighing an urgent request to block the administration from conducting any deportations.<br>While challenges have been filed in various courts since the controversial invoking of the Act. On Friday evening the American Civil Liberties Union, [ACLU], lodged the emergency filing on Friday contending that immigration authorities appeared to be moving to restart removals under the Alien Enemies Act. They were accusing men in the Texas detention facility of being members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. <br>That accusation leaves detainees vulnerable to deportation under the act.<br>Simultaneously Judge James Boasberg was hearing a case on the same matter. Lee Gelernt, a lawyer representing the American Civil Liberties Union, told the court: &#8216;We hear they are on buses on the way to the airport.&#8217;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Judge Boasberg whose previous ruling ordering the administration to turn around the planes carrying deportees to ensure due process went ignored, sprung into action instructing Justice Department lawyer, Drew Ensign, to ensure no detainee at Bluebonnet was being deported under the Alien Enemies Act on Friday night. <br>By early Saturday morning, a 7-2 Supreme Court majority ruled Trump must not deport any Venezuelans held in the Bluebonnet detention facility in Texas.<br>Alito&#8217;s minority opinion argued that the court acted &#8216;literally in the middle of the night&#8217; and with &#8216;dubious factual support&#8217; to take the extraordinary measure of blocking the government.</p>

Rather,<br>a brief order directed the administration not to remove Venezuelans held in the Bluebonnet Detention Center &#8216;until further order of this court.&#8217;</p>
