<p>Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton&#8217;s marriage has survived the storm of multiple allegations of corruption in office. However, the revelation of multiple infidelities may yet derail that train. <br>His spouse of 38 years, state senator Angela Paxton, 62 same as her husband, filed a petition for divorce in Collin County on Thursday, according to a post on X announcing the end of their nearly forty decades union.<br>The Paxton&#8217;s, both Republicans, have been dogged by rumors of the husband&#8217;s philandering. In 2023, Ken Paxton was impeached over claims that he helped a woman with whom he&#8217;d had an affair get a job with developer Paul Nate.<br>Making the split public Sen. Paxton posted, &#8216;Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds. I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation.<br>&#8216;But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.<br>&#8216;I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.&#8217;</p>

<p>In May 2023, Angela, a senator, had to sit through the Senate&#8217;s impeachment hearings after his alleged affair with a woman who worked for Nate Paul, an Austin based developer and political donor. Paxton was facing impeachment after securing the job for the woman with whom he had an extra-marital affair. <br>Although she attended her then-husband&#8217;s trial, Sen. Paxton abstained from voting on the outcome. <br>Ken Paxton was suspended from office he was after he was impeached by the Texas House for allegedly misusing the power of his office to help Paul, among other allegations of misconduct.<br>The Texas Senate never convicted him. This acquittal automatically reinstated Paxton to his position as Attorney General.</p>

<p>Following Angela&#8217;s post, her estranged husband on a note, via his X account, confirmed the impending split. <br>&#8216;After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives,&#8217; he wrote. <br>&#8216;I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time.&#8217; </p>

<p>Angela who took office in 2019, representing a large part of North Texas, including Rains, Hunt and Collin counties in the state senate met Ken Paxton when they were students at Baylor University. The long term couple and share four adult children and five grandchildren. <br>In a post to her Instagram in January, Angela shared precious snaps of her big family as they rang in the start to the 89th Legislative Session. </p>

<p>Aside of the serial cheating in his marriage, Ken Paxton has been accused of corruption on several occasions, although he has never been convicted of a crime. <br>Paxton has been the attorney general since 2015 after serving in the state legislature for a decade. <br>In 2024 he accepted a deal after prosecutors said he could avoid going to trial over felony securities fraud charges if he completed community service and paid restitution. <br>His indiscretions were reported him to the FBI in 2020, by eight of his former aides including his chief of Staff Katherine Cary.</p>

<p>Paul was a central figure in the abuse-of-office and bribery allegations leveled against Paxton by former high-ranking staffers, all of whom were subsequently fired or resigned from the attorney general&#8217;s office after taking their concerns to the FBI in 2020.<br>Those allegations which focusing on help Paxton gave Paul after the real estate investor&#8217;s Austin home and businesses were searched by federal law enforcement, prompted an FBI investigation and formed the lion’s share of 20 articles of impeachment against Paxton that the Texas House adopted.<br>Whistle blower Mark Penley, testified that Paxton pressured them to help Paul, who had given the AG a $25,000 campaign contribution at the time. <br>When Nate Paul was indicted in June 2023, on charges of defrauding banks to the tune of $172million, he accused the judge and FBI agents of wrongdoing. <br>Paul had complained that the federal agents fiddled with search warrant records. Paxton directed his agency to take a number of “bizarre, obsessive” actions to investigate Paul’s complaint, according to a whistleblower lawsuit filed by four Paxton deputies who had been fired.</p>
