<p>A black married couple was allegedly threatened and chased by racist assailants down a rural Virginia road &#8211; resulting in a traumatizing, near fatal car wreck. <br>Amylah Majors, 23, and Jamaria Gaskins, 24, were viciously attacked and terrorized with a firearm by a trio of locals on the evening of July 20, while traveling through Spotsylvania County, Virginia. <br>The same-sex couple were headed to Gaskins’ mother&#8217;s house when they pulled over to check out their car after running over debris and hearing a loud noise. around 6.30 pm on July 20.</p>

<p>A man spotted them and immediately came out of his home. He flashed them a &#8216;thumbs up,&#8217; leaving the women hoping he was going to help them with their car troubles.<br>But instead of the assistance they were expecting, instead, they allege, the man, a female and a second man appeared and began to berate them with racial slurs and threats. <br>&#8216;We were chased, threatened with firearms, and called racial slurs by three white individuals who acted as if they were part of a white supremacist group,&#8217; Majors wrote in a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/survived-a-hate-crime-now-were-fighting-to-heal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GoFundMe</a> post. <br>&#8216;Two of them physically attacked my wife while brandishing a gun and shouting threats.&#8217; <br>They were allegedly targeted by Mark Goodman, 59, and Elizabeth Wolfrey, 32. Both are facing charges in the wake of the race baiting attack which almost ended in lost lives.</p>

<p>The third local, a man, who was part of the harassment, has not been named because he was not charged, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Maj. Delbert Myrick <a href="https://www.fredericksburgfreepress.com/2025/08/01/beyond-grateful-to-be-alive-victims-of-alleged-spotsylvania-hate-crime-speak-out/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>. <br>Images from the ordeal show Wolfrey with a sinister grin as she waving a handgun in the air.<br>Goodman for his part, was captured pulling down his pants and showing his backside to Majors and Gaskins. <br>Majors said the racist trio called her and her wife the &#8216;n-word&#8217; and told them they &#8216;didn&#8217;t belong there.&#8217;<br>As the culprits taunted and berated the couple, Gaskins was on the phone with the police. <br>The situation escalated when Majors and Gaskins tried to flee the scene for safety. When they went to drive away, the tormentors allegedly jumped into vehicles and started trailing them. <br>&#8216;One of them rode up beside us on a 4-wheeler and aimed a gun directly at my head through the driver’s window,&#8217; Majors wrote. <br>&#8216;In that moment, we truly believed we weren’t going to make it out alive.&#8217;</p>

<p>In the midst of all the chaos, the women were &#8216;chased into a crash&#8217; after Wolfrey allegedly flashed her gun at them again, that is when <br>The couple&#8217;s car was completely wrecked in the crash, with its airbags deployed. Majors was ejected from their car, sustaining severe injuries. She was hospitalized with a fractured spine, broken clavicle and rib, as well as head injuries.<br>Majors shared a photograph showing the bruising all over her face and swelling around her eye sockets from the impact of the crash. Gaskins&#8217; injuries were less severe, but both women are still suffering from concussions.<br>&#8216;And yet &#8211; we’re not paralyzed. We’re not dead. That’s nothing but God,&#8217; Majors wrote on the fundraiser page, which has already raised more $2,363 of the $125,000 goal.<br>&#8216;This was not just an accident &#8211; this was an attempted act of violence meant to harm and silence us.<br>&#8216;This was hate. Targeted. Deliberate. And deadly. I’m not sharing this for sympathy &#8211; I’m sharing it because silence protects the people who did this.&#8217; <br>Wolfrey is charged with one count of pointing and brandishing a firearm and Goodman is charged with indecent exposure. <br>The ongoing investigation will determine if more charges, such as hate crime, are going to be filed, as<br>investigators review footage connected to the ordeal, which according to a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18zHxZEcmX/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">statement </a>posted on Facebook by the sheriff&#8217;s office, allegedly captured the suspects using &#8216;racially insensitive language and behavior&#8217; towards the victims. <br>Wolfrey and Goodman are scheduled for arraignment on September 20. <br></p>
