A Minnesota teenager who was freed without making restitution after killing an 11-year-old girl in a February car crash is finally been charged in connection with that vehicular homicide. Inexplicably no charges had been filed months after the fatal two car crash caused by Conner Iversen which cost the life a passenger in the other vehicle
Waling free Conner Michael Iversen, 18, proceeded to commit another heinous act just days after the fatal crash. The violent stabbing incident marked his third alleged offense within a three-month span.
Subsequently Iversen has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide in the February 26 death of Lilyana Loycano after initially being let off the hook by Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty.
Moriarty, a career public defender before running for district attorney, has come under criticism for her soft-on-crime style, her ‘woke approach’ often prioritizing leniency over public safety.

Moriarty who apparently changed her stance after the case was brought back to the attention of the District Attorney’s office in mid-July in a statement said: ‘After this case was submitted to our office in mid-July, we conducted a thorough review and are confident in our charging decision,’ adding ‘Lilyana should still be with her family. This terrible incident serves as another reminder of the devastating impact dangerous driving has on our communities.’
On February 26, at approximately 8 a.m., he allegedly ran a stop sign at the four-way intersection of County Roads 6 and 110 in Independence, T-boning an SUV carrying the Loycano family.
A crash reconstruction showed Iversen was driving 63 mph at the time in a zone with a posted speed limit of 50 mph. Investigators also found that Iversen was using his phone in the moments leading up to the crash.
Lilyana, 11, was critically injured and died two days later. Still, the other driver walked free.
Worse just 48 hours after Lilyana’s death, Iversen allegedly stabbed a man at Theodore Wirth Parkway and Olson Highway in Golden Valley on February 28.

The victim, who had attempted to help Iversen by offering him a ride, suffered stab wounds to the leg and facial injuries after being struck with a large stick, according to a criminal complaint.
Police later tracked Iversen to a nearby maintenance building, where he had allegedly broken in and was found “half naked” covered in blood and scratches.
Before authorities located Iversen, investigators suspect he may have broken into a home in the Hidden Lakes neighborhood, stolen an e-bike, and attempted to enter several other residences.
‘Golden Valley is currently investigating multiple burglaries possibly connected to Iversen,’ the complaint noted.
‘This was surprising because Golden Valley is a real quiet community — you don’t see these things happen often and when they do it kind of alarms people,’ said Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green.

Mary Moriarty, 61, became the Hennepin County in January 2023, after 30 years as a public defender. Since assuming office, Moriarty has repeatedly faced backlash for choosing to prioritize leniency over justice.
In her first week in office, she dismissed charges against a 35-year-old man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl due to a legal technicality, preventing him from ever being retried.
Despite an established pattern of violence, it took multiple offenses, including the fatal crash and brutal stabbing, before Connor Iversen was finally held, albeit only after huge public outcry.
The DA’s initial decision not to charge Iversen despite his seemingly reckless disregard for the law has sparked further outrage. The teenager’s already has lengthy criminal history.
He remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail ahead of a court appearance on September 8.
