<p>The claim by a New York man that his wife was fatally stabbed on City Island by two men on a moped fell apart when police checked surveillance video along their route, and couldn’t find the mysterious motorbike.<br>Franklin Batallas from The Bronx, NYC, told police the moped driving duo got into his car and stabbed his wife when he stopped he stopped on a stretch of roadway on City Island, on Wednesday, September 17, got out to relieve himself when two men on a moped approached got into his car and stabbed his wife.<br>Batallas, 44, was arraigned Saturday on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon Saturday in Manhattan Criminal Court. Batallas was held at Rikers Island jail without bail. <br>A review of Department of Transportation footage showed the couple’s vehicle traveling to Seafood City around 6:15 p.m., “however there is no sign of the moped,” according to court documents. </p>

<p>Frank Batallas claims his wife, 30-year-old registered nurse Anthonella Contreras Linarez, , was viciously stabbed to death inside her car while he apparently relieved himself on the side of a desolate road at night on Wednesday September 17. He family on the other hand always insisted that there may be more to the story.<br>Batallas showed up at New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital with his wife suffering from “extensive stab wounds to her face,” on September 17. She was declared dead a short time later. <br>Batallas also suffered small cuts to both arms and was treated and released, as police at the time, had not associated him with the crime.</p>

<p>The alleged moped-riding suspects fled after the attack and have not been caught, and police investigations have not turned leads to their existence.<br>When he was interviewed by detectives, Batallas said the motorbike duo was wearing “dark colored hoodies” and “riding a moped that had been following them for some time.” <br>Batallas claimed the two men tried to rob Contreras Linarez and stabbed her multiple times when she resisted before they fled, adding that he then rushed back to the car and tried to stop the suspects, only to be slashed while trying to defend his partner.</p>

<p>Linarez who ended up with multiple stab wounds all over her body, was rushed to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.<br>Batallas, whose injuries included a stab wound on his right forearm, was taken to the same hospital in stable condition. He was treated and released before being ultimately connected to the crime.<br>However two days later, on September 19, Batallas was arrested and charged with murder, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police believe that Batallas stabbed Anthonella Contreras Linarez repeatedly, but motive has not been released. </p>

<p>Contreras Linarez had worked as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital.<br>The couple who had been together three years, had lived together at an apartment on Bathgate Avenue for about a year before they moved out eight months ago.<br>At the time, they appeared to be a normal couple, quite friendly according to their neighbors.<br>“They were always singing and dancing in the apartment,” one neighbor said, adding that the music they listened to was “romantic.”<br><br><br><br></p>
