<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The case of the carjacking and murder of Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac David Satlat, widened on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, when three more suspects appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.<br>Tumishang Mogau Mabutla, 23, his girlfriend Ofentse Senwamadi, 18, and Thabang Kenneth Mothwa, 27, were brought before the court after being arrested on Monday, February 16.<br>Investigators have linked the trio to Satlat’s killing in Pretoria West on Wednesday, February 11, adding to the three suspects earlier charged in the crime.<br>They join Dikeledi Tears Mphela, Goitsione Machidi and McClaren Mushwana, who earlier this week <a href="https://www.citizen.co.za/news/south-africa/courts/trio-linked-horrific-murder-e-hailing-driver-abandon-bail-bid/">abandoned their bail applications</a>, when they made their court appearance at the Pretoria Magistrate&#8217;s Court on February 16.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A statement issued by South Africa&#8217;s National Prosecuting Authority, [NPA], alleges that all six suspects acted with conspired to carjack and murder the 22-year-old Bolt driver, a Nigerian national.<br>“It is further alleged that after disposing of the deceased’s body, the accused took the vehicle of the deceased to Mothwa for him to remove the tracker from the vehicle,” the NPA said in a statement on Wednesday.<br>A week earlier, on February 14, South African police announced arrests arising from a probe launched following a viral disturbing video of a car-seat murder of a Bolt driver in Pretoria, on February 11.<br>David Isaac Satlat, 22, was a student at Divine Progress Technical College, an Further Education and Training College, where he was due to graduate in March upon completing his practical module. However that was not to be as he was murdered on February 11, after accepting a ride request in the Pretoria West/Attridgeville area, where he moonlighted as an e-hailing driver.<br>The footage posted on social media showed the final moments of a Bolt driver Isaac Satlat. <br>A woman in the front seat is seen struggling with Satlat, before “the trio allegedly forced him to stop, strangled him to death and robbed him of his cellphone and vehicle”, prosecutors said.</p>

A man sitting in the back joins the attack while the driver tries to regain control of the steering wheel. <br>The two men appear to start struggling with each other and a firearm before the man in the back hits the driver with the gun on the head numerous times. As the tussle continued, the man in the backseat wraps his arm around the driver&#8217;s neck, chocking him until he loses consciousness.<br>Eventually, the assailant pulls the driver into the backseat of the car, and another man enters the vehicle, before the trio of assailtants step out.<br>The hijacked vehicle and body of the driver were found same day in Atteridgeville.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><br>Initially only the trio of Dikeledi Tears Mphela, 24, Goitsione Machidi, 25, and McClaren Mushwana, 30, were taken into custody for the premeditated murder of the e-hailing driver, as well as robbery with aggravated circumstances.<br>At the time authorities said, “More arrests are imminent as the police investigation is continuing. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was murdered by a male and a female who requested the service of an e-hailing in Pretoria West.”<br>Among the new set of suspects Tumishang Mogau Mabutla faces charges of premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. His teenage girlfriend Ofentse Senwamadi has been charged with premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact.<br>The sixth suspect, Thabang Kenneth Mothwa is charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances as an accessory after the fact.<br>The matter has been postponed to February 23, for one of the accused to obtain a legal representative and for all six accused to appear together in court, the NPA confirmed.<br>Dashcam footage that appears to capture Satlat’s death has circulated widely on social media, drawing significant public attention.<br>One of the suspects, Thabiso Kaizer Mphahlele, <a href="https://www.ewn.co.za/isaac-satlat-murder-fourth-suspect-now-due-in-court-on-wednesday/">reportedly</a>, informed the court that he will not apply for bail and intends to plead guilty to charges of premeditated murder, kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances. Mphahlele through his defense counsel told the court that the state’s case was strong and that pursuing bail would waste time.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile, e-hailing company Bolt has reportedly confirmed that Satlat was operating under a different driver’s profile at the time of the incident. The account belonged to Wiseman Makobe, a registered driver with an active profile on the platform.<br>Makobe allegedly completed the required verification process before Satlat used the profile on the fateful day.The account has been permanently deactivated and barred from any further use on the platform.<br>Bolt reiterated that profile sharing is against its rules and clarified its compensation framework.<br>The company reportedly stated that full support, including compensation for death, serious injury, disability and medical costs, is only available to drivers who are legally operating under their own verified accounts.<br>If a driver is using someone else’s profile or impersonating another person, they are regarded as operating unlawfully and are not covered by the platform’s compensation policy, Bolt clarified.</p>
