<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On March 23, Russian authorities announced the arrested of four alleged attackers and seven accomplices.<br>Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, 32, Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, 30, Shamsidin Fariduni, 25, and 19-year-old Mukhammadsobir Faizov, all identified in Russian media as citizens of Tajikistan were charged with committing a terrorist attack resulting in the death of others at Moscow&#8217;s Basmanny District Court.<br>The charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The four men convicted of carrying out the shooting have all been identified as citizens of Tajikistan.<br>The other 11 who received life sentences were found guilty of helping the gunmen with money and weapons or of having links to terrorist groups.<br>Four others were jailed for selling a car to the gunmen and helping them rent an apartment.<br>When the men first appeared in court two years ago, they showed visible signs of having been beaten and one was brought into court in a wheelchair.<br>It is not clear if the convicted individuals will appeal the sentences, amidst speculations on the likelihood that confessions may have been extracted under duress for a trial that was conducted behind closed door</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><br>IS-K, the group which admitted the attack, is an offshoot of IS which seeks to establish a Muslim caliphate across Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran.<br>Graphic video released by IS, showing attackers firing on the crowd inside the concert hall, was verified as genuine.<br>Russian officials have continued to claim that Ukraine was linked to the attack &#8211; the neighbour Russia has been at war with since it launched a full-scale invasion in 2022. No evidence has been provided for the claims.<br>Ukrainian officials fiercely deny any connection.<br>President Volodymyr Zelensky previously said it was &#8220;absolutely predictable&#8221; that Russian President Vladimir Putin would blame it on Ukraine.</p>
