<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over the weekend Deputies in Tampa, Florida searching for a pair of missing doctoral candidates made a gruesome discovery in the waters near Tampa.<br>Human remains were found in the waterways near Tampa during the city-wide search for 27-year-old University of South Florida, [USF], doctoral student Nahida Bristy, the Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office revealed on Sunday.<br>Nahida Bristy, 27, vanished on April 16, along with her boyfriend Zamil Limon, also a 27-year-old graduate student at USF. <br>The search party found Limon&#8217;s body near the Howard Frankland Bridge on Friday, April 24, a day after he was scheduled to present his thesis statement. <br>That same Friday, Limon&#8217;s roommate, Hisham Saleh Abugharbieh, 26, was arrested in connection with the couple&#8217;s disappearance a week earlier, following a dramatic standoff with SWAT.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Abugharbieh, after being taken into custody in a residential Tampa neighborhood outside of the University of South Florida, was hit with a slew of charges including two counts of premeditated murder in the first degree using a deadly weapon, unlawfully holding or moving a dead body, and failure to report a death to authorities as well as several other offenses. <br>The suspect, who was enrolled at USF from spring 2021 through spring 2023. It is not known whether he completed his pursuit of a bachelors degree in the Science of Management.<br>Prosecutors allege that Abugharbieh in the days leading to the crime asked ChatGPT questions on the proper way to dispose of a body to avoid detection.<br>Abugharbieh allegedly asked ChatGPT on April 13: &#8216;What happens if a human is put in a black garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster?&#8217;<br>When the bot responded, &#8216;It sounds dangerous,&#8217; he further probed, &#8216;How would they find out?&#8217;</p>

Court document prosecutors filed on Saturday allege investigators discovered traces of blood as well as blood-stained clothing at the apartment he shared with Abugharbieh. <br>Limon&#8217;s wallet, glasses and a pink iPhone case that belonged to Bristy were found in a trash compactor at the complex.<br>According to the charging document, a day prior to the couple&#8217;s disappearing, Abugharbieh allegedly asked the chatbot questions regarding changing the VIN number on a car and if a gun could be kept in a home with a license.<br>On April 19, three days after the couple went missing, the report notes the suspect again queried ChatGPT: &#8216;Has there been someone who survived a sniper bullet to the head?&#8217; Next he asked, &#8216;Will my neighbors hear my gun?&#8217;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It was also revealed that Abugharbieh took a drive on the night the couple went missing, which allegedly matched the location of Limon&#8217;s cell phone before the signal was dropped.<br>Sheriff Chad Chronister said, &#8216;This is a deeply disturbing case that has shaken our community and impacted many who were hoping for a safe resolution,&#8217; adding, &#8216;While the discovery of Zamil Limon&#8217;s remains is heartbreaking, I want the public to know that our detectives worked and are working tirelessly and relentlessly to uncover the truth.&#8217;<br></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Limon and Bristy both had earned their bachelor&#8217;s degrees back home in Bangladesh before moving to the US to pursue their postgraduate studies and were on student visas.<br>Both families in Bangladesh have said it was unlike either to go off the grid and not respond to their messages.<br>Last Friday, just before 5 p.m., a family friend reported that they were unable to contact both Limon and Bristy, triggering the missing person reports that prompted police to initiate the search for the pair.<br>Limon was studying geography, environmental science, and policy, while Bristy was a chemical engineering student who lived on the USF campus. She reportedly, was last seen in the Natural and Environmental Sciences Building on the USF Tampa campus, around 10 am on April 16.<br>While Limon&#8217;s death was confirmed Friday, Bristy&#8217;s status remains missing, although presumed dead, as the Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office is yet to confirm the identity of the remains recovered in water.<br>The suspect, a US citizen, has several previous arrests, the sheriff’s office said. <br>Abugharbieh was charged with battery and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling in September 2023, and with battery that May, both classified in court records as misdemeanors. <br>Court records show he may have entered into a diversion program.<br>Aside of several traffic violations, Hillsborough county court records show two domestic violence petitions against the suspect filed by a family member in 2023, in which a judge granted an injunction in one case, but denied the other petition. </p>
