<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A security guard was shot dead at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday after two gunmen opened fire on the Islamic Center of San Diego [ICSD], in Claremont around 11.40am PT on Monday. . <br>The security guard has not been identified, but two apparent suspects were also found dead in a car near the scene, San Diego’s police chief said. <br>The two unnamed assailants, 17 and 19, reportedly, also died from gunshot injuries.<br>Multiple injured people were rushed to a Sharp Memorial Hospital after shots rang out, the outlet said. The number of patients and the extent of their injuries remain unknown. <br>An official with hospital told the outlet they have activated their disaster protocols and continue to wait for more patients to arrive. <br>ICSD is the largest Mosque in San Diego County and is home to the Al Rashid School, formerly known as the Islamic School of San Diego.<br>Crowds of young students were seen being evacuated from the building by law enforcement officers. <br>Panicked parents rushed to the scene to pick up their children from the Al Rashid school that is inside the center. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Iman of the Islamic Center of San Diego confirmed that no children were injured during Monday&#8217;s shooting.<br>&#8216;The entire school is safe. All the kids, all the staff and the teachers are safe out of the Islamic Center,&#8217; Imam Taha Hassane said in a Facebook video update.<br>&#8216;We have few casualties, not confirmed yet. There is no threat at this moment, but we want everyone to stay away from the Islamic Center of San Diego.&#8217;<br>Around 4pm, police said the threat &#8216;has been neutralized.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Islamic Center of San Diego is the largest mosque in San Diego County, with around 5,000 members in its congregation. <br>The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and a local community leader have confirmed that at least one member of the mosque was killed. <br>San Diego Police Chief Stan Wahl said investigators are considering this a hate crime “until it’s not.” </p>
