<p class="wp-block-paragraph">All 46 abducted person by terrorists, 39 students and seven teachers, from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria, have been successfully rescued. <br>They captives were freed on July 10, 2026, after spending 56 days in captivity.<br>The victims were abducted when heavily armed gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School in the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities on May 15. <br>The kidnapping resulted in the tragic deaths of two teachers, including one who was beheaded by the captors.<br>The rescue operation was executed by a joint team of Nigerian security forces, including the Army, Department of State Services [DSS], and police. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The terrorists according to local media, camped the abductees inside Old Oyo National Park, a protected forest reserve which links to Kainji National Park an area where a faction of Boko Haram terrorists led by Sadiku recently migrated their operational headquarters.<br>The rescue team sealed the kidnappers&#8217; escape routes within the National Park corridor, leading to the victims&#8217; safe release.<br>The the terrorists had issue the threat that they would kill the captives if security forces tried to rescue them.<br>Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state announced that security operatives searching for the victims encountered improvised explosive devices planted by the attackers, leaving some personnel injured.<br>Eight of the suspected terrorists were arrested and are now in the custody of the state security services.</p>
