<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Connecticut pre-teen, Eve Rogers, 12, had a lethal dose of the antihistamine in her system when she died at home in Enfield, about 20 miles outside of Hartford, on March 18, 2026.<br>The 12-year-old girl died of a Benadryl overdose after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by her stepfather, investigators said.<br>Eve&#8217;s manner of death is ruled an overdose with undetermined intent, according to a report by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), released on Monday. <br>Primary cause of death according to the report was acute Benadryl intoxication. Two antidepressants, Prozac and Wellbutrin, were also present in her system.<br>The girl was discovered by her mother, lying on the floor of her bedroom with her face looking up at the ceiling, a blanket covering the lower half of her body, with blood dripping from her nose.<br>According to the arrest warrant, two pills were found on the floor near the door in Roger’s bedroom. There was another pill that appeared to be Aspirin on her desk. She had YouTube open on a laptop in her bedroom.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the time, her stepfather Anthony Federline told police that his stepdaughter was diagnosed with the autoimmune nervous system disorder, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), was autistic, and was in the process of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, according to the arrest warrant..<br>Federline, 39, has since been charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after her death in April, although he has not been charged with murder &#8211; a sexual assault kit that was performed on Eve before her autopsy found Federline to be one of the &#8216;contributors&#8217; from a DNA swab, the warrant stated.<br>On receipt of the outcome of the swab test Enfield police questioned the dead girl&#8217;s mother Melanie Federline along with her husband Anthony Federline. However, what Melanie Federline knew of the alleged sexual abuse of her daughter remains unclear. <br>Investigators have applied for a warrant to search Anthony&#8217;s social media accounts, the family&#8217;s CVS Caremark account, and two Amazon accounts in an attempt to gather evidence that could lead to charging him with murder. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A laptop recovered which found on the same floor where Eve was located, was open on a YouTube webpage. <br>Police believe, it was in use shortly before her death. Investigators have indicated that they would search the laptop for any indication of what Eve was doing in the days leading up to her death.<br>Federline admitted to police that he and Eve would communicate on Facebook and Snapchat, while maintaining their correspondence was not sexual.<br>Eve&#8217;s mother Melanie married Anthony Federline on September 22, 2018. The couple had a child a year later. That child was taken into the custody of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families days after Anthony was charged in Eve&#8217;s case. <br>In July, just months after her daughter died, Melanie filed for divorce from Anthony. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the dissolution of marriage complaint was filing Melanie is also seeking sole custody of the child she had in the marriage.<br>Melanie also requested that the child live with her full-time and that there be a fair division of debts, child support and property between the estranged couple.<br>According to documents, two other children lived in the home at the time of her death. <br>Enfield Police Chief Alaric said: &#8216;We continue to work to determine the manner of death. The case remains active and ongoing.&#8217; </p>
