“You know, [bleeping] music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson, saying, ‘This is the greatest show — 4 ¹/â stars.’ It’s [bleeping] lip-synced! Hello! . . . I’d rather go and see a drag queen. [Bleep] off,” John tells Rolling Stone.<br />
His 2004 attack on Madonna was even worse, after she was nominated for best live act at the Q Awards.<br />
“Madonna, best live act? [Bleep] off! Since when has lip-syncing been live? . . . I think everyone who lip-syncs onstage in public when you pay, like, 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much,” he said.<br />
He told Rolling Stone he’s since apologized. “I probably went too far with Madonna and I got very personal, and I wrote her — she was very gracious.”<br />
Meanwhile, Jackson, now on tour, recently announced she’ll perform at the Dubai World Cup on March 26. Her rep didn’t comment on John’s lip-syncing claim, but maybe she’ll also get an apology in 12 years.</p>
