<p class="mol-para-with-font">A Texas man is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in a motel and sending a bloodied photo of her corpse to her new boyfriend in 2013.<br />
Julio Cesar Pliego, 46, will appear in court next week on charges that he brutally killed Veronica Lozano, a 35-year-old mother of four and hairstylist at a Holiday Inn Express, according to KTLA.<br />
Police do not know how or why Pliego and Lozano met the day of Lozano&#8217;s death.<br />
Lozano was reportedly stabbed 40 times and was also shot in the head at close range, according to NBC.<br />
Pliego reportedly sent a photo of Lozano&#8217;s naked and bloody corpse to her boyfriend. The distressed boyfriend pleaded with Pliego not to hurt Lozano and begged him to take her to the hospital to which he allegedly replied&#8217; It&#8217;s too late.&#8217;<br />
The boyfriend told police that Pliego was stalking Lozano prior to killing her. Pliego and Lozano dated for six months and were broken up for two months when the alleged killing occurred.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">A maid at the hotel found Lozano&#8217;s body after noticing some blood that seemed to be coming from the room, according to the Mercury News.<br />
The room at the Holiday Inn was rented in Pliego&#8217;s name and police were able to track down a woman who claimed to be his girlfriend of 11 years. She said Pliego told her he had &#8216;committed something very bad&#8217; and was planning to go to Mexico.<br />
Police say he ran to Mexico after slaying the mother and was returned to the US on Tuesday.<br />
&#8216;If the defendant thought he was going to live happily ever after in Mexico after committing a savage and senseless crime, then the FBI and these charges have proved him wrong,&#8217; Santa Clara County Deputy Dist. Atty. Katrina Ohde told KTLA.<br />
&#8216;We look forward to holding him fully accountable for the murder of Veronica Lozano.&#8217;<br />
If convicted, Pliego faces life in prison.</p>
