Bancroft’s estranged boyfriend Michael Andres Pineda Lozano, 41, pulled up in a BMW SUV and opened fire on the vehicle
Mother and son were on their way to daycare, were both killed before Pineda Lozano, who is not the father of the child, then shot himself
Relatives said the pair were going through a breakup and she’d applied for a restraining order

A hospital director with one of the country’s largest medical systems was shot dead along with her four-year-old son during a school run in south Florida, on Friday morning.
Odalys Bancroft, 43, was on the school run on Friday morning with her four-year-old son Theodore ‘Teddy’ Couto. as mother and son pulled their minivan the Chase bank drive-through ATM in West Kendall they were attacked.
The pair were shot and killed by Bancroft’s ex-boyfriend in horrifying attack that was caught by surveillance footage.
The shooter, identified as Michael Andres Pineda Lozano, 41, pulled up in a luxury BMW SUV and opened fire on the vehicle before shooting himself outside the bank in southwest Miami-Dade County.

Bancroft’s brother Michael Trujillo revealed that ‘there were some concerns about [Bancroft’s ex-boyfriend]. Bancroft had filed a for a restraining order against Pineda Lozano.
‘They were going through a breakup, but no signs that I was aware of that there was fear like that,’ Trujillo said.

The 43-year-old reportedly, joined the hospital system in 2015, beginning her career as a clinical staff nurse, eventually rising to leadership roles at Holtz Children’s Hospital.

Young Teddy celebrated his PreK-4 graduation just days prior to the tragedy, his family revealed.
‘Today, our family is facing an unimaginable tragedy,’ his aunt Jennifer Couto revealed in the in the crowd funding page intro.
‘Vicente Couto has lost his only son, Theodore Couto. There are no words to express the depth of our sorrow. Theodore was a bright light in our lives, and his sudden departure has left us shattered.’
