Karim Baker, 26, (pictured) was allegedly beaten by two NYPD detectives after he unknowingly gave directions to a man who killed two officers in 2014

Two officers are charged with the beating of a uniformed postal worker
Detectives Angelo Pampena, 31, and Robert Carbone, 29, were arraigned on Wednesday and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted
Karim Baker, 26, gave directions to a man he did not know in October 2014
The man, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, later murdered two officers and killed himself
Baker said he felt harassed by police ever since the 10-second encounter.
Two New York Police Department detectives are charged with assaulting a uniformed postal worker who they knew had given street directions to a stranger who later killed two policemen in 2014.
Detectives Angelo Pampena, 31, and Robert Carbone, 29, were arraigned Wednesday in Queens for allegedly beating Karim Baker, 26, in October of last year.
Pampena is a nine-year veteran with the NYPD and Carbone is a eight-year veteran.
The two had been assigned the NYPD’s Patrol Boro Queens North Gang Unit but are now facing a five-count indictment, ABC 7 reported.
Karim had gotten into his car October 21, 2015, when the detectives punched, kicked and dragged him onto the sidewalk, prosecutors said.
Pampena filed a sworn criminal complaint alleging Baker was parked in front of a fire hydrant.
But video evidence shows the vehicle was parked more than 15 feet away from the hydrant, prosecutors said.
Pampena is charged with second- and third-degree assault, second-degree perjury, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and official misconduct.
Carbone is charged with second- and third-degree assault.
Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were killed on December 20, 2014 — shot at point-blank range through their cruiser window by Ismaaiyl Brinsley.
Brinsley, who killed himself with the same weapon, had posted on Instagram that he wanted to put ‘wings on pigs’ and referenced Eric Garner, whose police chokehold death led to protests against the NYPD.
Karim appeared on security footage giving Brinsley directions to two housing projects.
It’s not clear how much time elapsed between the directions and the slayings.

‘The entire conversation lasted about 10 seconds.
‘Mr. Baker gave him directions and they parted their separate ways,’ his lawyer, Eric Subin, said in November.
After that, Baker was questioned and then ‘systematically harassed’ by police — including officers lurking around him and his family and about 20 traffic stops in nine months, Subin said.
‘I have no hate toward police officers at all. That’s who I call when I need help. I’m just hurt,’ Baker said at the time.
The two officers, who were previously assigned to an anti-gang unit, were released to await their next court appearance June 27.|If convicted, both defendants face up to seven years in prison.
